CA registered F-350 GVW question

11,300lbs for my 21' 350 Tremor. 7,620lbs unladen. No weigh station stop required. Over 11,499 GVWR AND over 8,000lbs unladen, required to stop at open weigh stations. That IS fact.

Insane. I think New York state has some similar requirement to register Superduty as commercial.

NJ doesn’t. And no inspections on diesels. And no yearly personal property tax like many southern states do. And yearly registration is at around $80. I would sell the truck before i paid $900 yearly to keep it registered - extortion @Canyon Trekker 😉

I missed the rule when I lived out there, I had my daily tagged in CA but I tagged my HD truck in AR using my brothers address with a military tag for $1 year. I also had my RV tagged with permanent AR tags.
Crazy part was they let me get the CA tags with a AR DL. I was there 2 years before I got my DL. Had to take the written test again lol thought I was gonna fail it.

It's long due to folks talking over each other without answering first two simple numbers questions.
I just wanted to know if I needed the CVRA sticker.

I know the truck is registered commercial, just like all my other trucks.

This is the first time getting a CVRA and I don’t know if this is new for 2026, dealer error or everything is fine and they send the stickers and they actually aren’t needed and can be ignore.

I’m going to the CHP tomorrow and find out.

I mean if ya'll want to keep on playing this game.....

I'll raise you the NY DMV form you fill out....

So at this point are we just going to start to argue about they are using the GVWR to determine the FEES you pay, or are we going to keep at the issue of "Commercial Plates/Registration"????
Cause in NY that form seems PRETTY clear what box to check.....I mean if you read such items when you fill out a form.

So....where are we at with all this "Commercial Registration/Plates" now....Well in NY it seems as this is a Passenger vehicle, sir not Commercial..........$266 please. "

Am I missing something?????????

Oh....look at that...the fee is the same if it's Commercial.....Must be based upon the GVWR.

This thread has become a giant cluster-f.

All this back and forth has OBSCURED any simple, relevant info.

Unbelievable.

I know right!? If people would just read the forms that they fill out this wouldn't be a problem.

Right?!?

I just asked about the sticker and now it’s become arguing what the definition of a truck is and comparing costs in NY

Seems to be what happens when people buy new trucks. Especially the ones that just don't know the definition of Commercial regarding vehicles. This isn't the first post about this and it's never going to be the last.

Are you not under standing that in CA, all trucks are commercial and the dealer fills out the registration? The forms and what’s needed is clear in CA. I’m not confused about the form or how the truck is registered.

I literal asked about the weight sticker and you derailed it into a shitshow because you want to argue about states you dont live in about what the defy of a truck is
