Better then x plan ordering....?

I just bought a fully loaded 2021 F-250 tremor lariat 6.7l powerstroke on x-plan. $81k msrp for $75k. There was an extra x-plan incentive and reduced dealership preparation cost included. I think that was pretty good considering the supply vs demand.

Reduced dealership preparation cost? How much did they charge you?

It would have been $599, but with x-plan it was $99.

Did they say what was included? Ford pays them to get the truck ready for sale, so I am not sure why there was an extra charge with or without the x-plan reduced price.

The dealership I worked with broke down the costs including dealer preparation. I agree with you but that is reality. I questioned the cost but with x-plan it was reduced significantly.

“Let me fill your truck up with a “”free”” tank of gas”. = $600 dollar prep fee. They will do anything they can to make money, especially if you’re financing and don’t figure out what was rolled into the total price. Most people get that payment right and think it’s a good deal... not alluding to anyone on the forums btw... we all seem like real bastards to try and get one over on us ?

Thanks, all! Appreciate the input - will try to contact a fleet manager of a dealership I haven't tapped yet.

Anyone else getting a note from Costco that they don't have a pricing agreement on Tremors? I filled out the Costco build sheet, submitted, and they came back saying something to the effect that "F350 tremors don't have a pricing agreement, would you like to be put in touch with the Costco dealer anyway?"

Took me by surprise given the instructions here.

Hey all, appreciate everyone's help here. Just want a quick check on how the process goes. I had been going through the "internet form on a dealer website" channel and no luck getting less than $2k above invoice.

Heeded the thread advice here, and reached out to a fleet manager directly (from a dealership I had not contacted). I emailed him my order with exact codes and everything, and he responded with a build sheet but no comment on price. I offered $1.5k under invoice, he responded that he's impressed I knew all of the order codes but I obviously didn't know the pricing - he said he's not in the business of losing money and he countered with $2k over invoice.

Is this part of the process and I need to persist? Or is it time to move on to another dealership?

Get with Darnell Terrell at Marshall Ford in the STL area. Someone on here turned me on to him, but I don't recall specifically. He got me $1K below invoice, no fees, on a roughly $75K build.

darnellterrell3ATgmailDOTcom

I see you're in Indiana, so STL can't be that terrible of a drive. Weekend deal at worst.

He's not ultimately who I went with (paid $250 more for a more geographically-convenient dealer), but they were #2 on my list.

They CAN sell a truck at invoice and make money due to dealership holdback, doesn’t mean they will. Just tell him 2k over invoice is a start and if he can get closer to meeting in the middle maybe y’all can work a deal. If not then thank him for his time and try someone else.

I suggested that you get the Costco price. Which was $300. under invoice. Go to the Ford site, not a dealer website, and build the one you want. Go to a Costco participating dealer and get it written up. Then, and only then do you need to waste your time shooting in the dark. Do you not like that method? No dealer is going to start their negotiations at $1,500. below invoice. And when you start there, you've already lost. They know you are just playing a game. Fleet managers usually have a policy they work under on pricing, they are not the dummies that approach you when you walk into the dealership. Smarten up. Now you need a new dealership because this one has your number and they are rude. So, call another fleet guy and simply tell him you are looking for a Costco price and ask him what his current pricing is on Fleet deals, or Costco deals. No arguing needed, no guessing, no insulting offers. These guys are professionals and not likely to be BS'd along. Also remember that they are in business and need to make a living. You need your dealer to stay in business. It's insulting to try and beat them down to where they are losing money, as they are not going there and they've heard it all before. I hope you see that. Business is a compromise, not a win lose game. Play the game properly if you want to win.

When I tried to fill out Costco they specifically prompted me that the tremor has no pricing deal but I could still be put into touch with the nearest participating costco dealer if I wanted. That dealer didn't move from $3k over invoice.

Costco Auto Program was a complete farce in my experience. If you can find a participating dealer (a challenge in and of itself), you'll probably find the pricing similar to X-Plan, but with bigger leeway and loopholes for the dealer to bend you over the barrel. If you think the best you might be able to do is Costco or X-Plan, take the X-Plan route seven days a week and twice on Sundays. Get it by joining the Mustang Club of America for a year ($20 or $25, can't recall).

OK, but I did it that way, and I ended up getting a Tremor at $500. below invoice, and $2,000. from Ford. Or, $2,500. total below invoice. I never raised my voice. or made an offer I knew they would refuse. And I got it from the dealer closest to me with zero hassle. BTW, you don't have to tell Costco it's a Tremor, Just a 2021 F250. Come on. You don't build the truck on the Costco site. You build it on the Ford site. And again, not the dealer website either. By building it on the Ford site, you become eligible for the cash offer and your name goes out to the dealers, which lets them know you are serious. Then they will try to get your business.

This is not hard to understand. The Costco deal is not the real deal. It is your foot in the door to make a deal. It shows the dealer you are serious and gives a good starting point without any negotiation. Two dealers competed for my business because they both knew I was serious. How did they know? Because I Iwalked into the first one wth a Costco deal in hand, and the second one beat it without me even asking. Then Ford had my info and sent the $2,000 cash offer. You can use X if you'd like, cool, but they are the starting point. Why pit Costco against X? You need to work with the dealer, and they need to know you ae serious and ready. They need to know you've already talked to another dealer, who wrote up an offer that you have in hand.

I did the Ford submission already, got my $2500 PCO. Dealers in my area don't want to budge from MSRP and when they do it's at the most they end up a couple thousand above invoice.

Others in this forum have expressed similar difficulties with Midwest dealers. I think these strategies are very location dependent and what works in Nevada won't work in Wisconsin. As an example, my Costco dealer had no expectation or concern to do any sort of discounting because I was a Costco lead. Just treated it as a straight deal where super duties can't stay on lots so best they can do is $3k over invoice.

My buddy just bought a new Power Wagon. He wanted it soon and not order it. So he looked all over the Country and found the exact one he wanted in Vermont. He lives in Utah. Off he went to get it. He had a great trip and got just what he wanted. Moral: Who cares what the dealers do in your area? Folks in Nevada frequently go to Idaho and the dealer there will pick you up at the airport. Expand you horizons and you'll find a dealer that actually wants to sell you a truck.

Looks like auto sales sucked last year. Start calling and ask if they’ll order what you want under invoice. Someone has to want a sale.

So I’m getting very close to ordering my tremor.
I am looking to order it from northern Ohio/Detroit area

I found a dealer that will do $600 under x plan.
anyone do better in that area....?
I just picked mine up Saturday. I used xplan, when I went to pick it up, Ford gave me a direct $2250 off price, so I got Xplan, Ford direct of $2250, and mil discount of $500.
