Auto Regen Question

Got it but still can’t figure out how to enable manual regen
I've had 4 diesel trucks, if knowing when a regen was a critical issue I would like to believe the manufacturer would have enabled a way to notify you. I have never driven, kept driving, based if a regen was in process and never had any issues. If I'm going somewhere I'm not going to keep the truck running and sit there is a regen is occurring. Just my 2 cents.

You may definitely have a point. I had my 6.4 for 5 yrs and my last 6.7 for 7 yrs, never knew when it was in regen unless I stopped and could smell it and I didn’t have one issue in 200k combined miles. Lots of short drives also

I agree with both of the above posts. I’ve never owned a diesel, and I don’t know when most regens occur. Truck is running smoothly, and I’ve had no obvious issues. I look every so often at the filter and it varies its % so I know it’s doing its thing. I agree that if it was a crucial thing to know about and be aware of, the truck would be letting us know. Since it doesn’t, I don’t care personally. I just drive as I need to, and turn it off when I no longer need it, and have no clue if Regen was happening or not. Not concerned at all

I changed mine with Forscan and the auto regen check box WAS there for a couple months. Now its gone. Truck hasn't been in the shop or anything. Thoughts??
Did you ever get the check box back for auto regen? Just curious because I was looking to do this also.

Yep, it never was gone. I was just looking at the wrong screen.

I did actually try unchecking the box this weekend because I was at 95% and parking my vehicle for a while. I checked the box when I left and auto regen started.

Hi All,
My first diesel. if you stop the regen, will it populate a check engine light? This happened to me twice. The first time I was messing with my travel trailer while the truck was idling. The truck started to rev up, and I figured it was the regen starting. I continued messing with the trailer. I got in the truck, and without thinking about the regen process, I pressed the brake, it stopped reving, but then I got the check engine light on. After about 100 miles of driving, the light turned off. Last night I was dialing in the psi on the 38s and left the truck idling while I was messing with the tires (30-35 min). I didn't hear the truck rev up, and when I was done, I parked it. No check engine light. This morning, check the engine light on.

That is why I got forscan software to disable the auto regen and show the DPF% filter. So I know when it's ready to regen and I can do it myself.

The truck won't initiate a true stationary regen without using a tool or having the ability enabled and you OK'ing it first.
What you experienced is programing that Ford has to burn off excess hydrocarbons caused from extended idling. Kind of a soft regen I guess. Interuping it is harmless.

If you were in an active regen from driving and then interupted it by stopping, while debatable, in most cases causes no harm and shouldn't trigger a CEL. You might have a sensor that is seeing something out of range, you need to read the code.

I tried getting FORScan right now, but the thing won't open after I install it.

I see, I just got back from LA. I stop for a bit of diesel and went to start up the truck. No CEL on. 🤔 also, no codes populated on scanner.
