Today, we're not selling anything.

This weekend, a lot of inboxes are full of "Memorial Day Blowout" banners. We're sitting this one out on purpose.

Memorial Day isn't a sale. It's a day of remembrance for the men and women who gave their lives so the rest of us could have the ordinary freedoms we stop noticing — the open road, the full tank, the long weekend, the people in the passenger seat. And it's a day to remember the ones still serving right now — the families who will set a place at the table this weekend for someone who can't be there, because they're somewhere far from home making sure the rest of us can be. Those freedoms were paid for. Freedom has never meant freedom from consequence — it asks us to carry it with care. To respect the people we share the road and this country with. To never take it so far that we forget what it cost.

So before the grills fire up and the trucks roll out, hold the people you love a little closer. Some families don't get that chance today. To everyone who gave everything, and to the families still waiting on someone to come home — thank you. We will never take it for granted.
