Front / Rear differential - $400

Transmission - $500

EGR Cleaning - $500

Brake fluid/Transfer case/Power steering/Coolant Flush/ Fuel and Coolant conditioner

it was over the phone so I didn’t asked for itemized cost for everything, just the more common services

$1900 was the estimate.

Front/Rear Diffs at 30K can be valid recommendation based on driving habits

Transmission fluid at 30K, maybe the same?

EGR cleaning, possible, but I don’t like the fact that they stated $500 without even looking at it to see if it needs cleaning.

Power Steering, Coolant flush plus conditioner 🤔

Brake fluid 30k ok I can get on board with that.

Thoughts?

I don’t have the time to do any of these serviced myself, I do have a trusted independent mechanic that I’m sure can do all of this at much better prices. My only concern is Ford factory and esp warranty and if they push back down the road.

My mechanics receipts typically don’t show details such as brand of fluids used, and I know it’s important to have receipts showing work

I don't believe any of those services are required by Ford. Should just be engine oil fuel filter and airfilters. For heavy service, transmission around 50k miles, T'case when you do transmission. Front diff would depend on 4wd usage/water fording (if you spend a lot of time with the diff submerge, always good to check the level and change if high or milky.) Rear would be more towing related (or repeated submerging) if you are towing near max, probably do around 50 k miles.

If you have a trusted mechanic, then ask him what he thinks you should have done.
He'll probably tell you a lot of that doesn't need to be done yet on a 1 year old truck, even with 30k.
I'm guessing its a lot of highway? Do you drive through deep water? Do you use 4wd a lot?

If it was me, I'd probably go to about 50k and then do the transmission and rear axle.
Most of the rest of it is just fine. Again, it's a little over a year old.

But also if it was me. I'd find a weekend and do the stuff myself.
Time is money and money is time. If I could make $1900 in a day, I'd do it.:)

Have been following Ford service schedule for years with not a single issue. There is a severe service schedule as well which you may fall under. Several owners here have 100k plus on their trucks following the scheduled maintenance. It's your coin and truck and I say do what makes you comfortable.

EGR cleaning? I don't even think that is a thing you need to do. I would be a little nervous if they are removing the EGR to clean it out, would that potentially void the warranty if it's not a serviceable component?

Yeah I googled it and it seems this is a thing… but I’m seeing “inspect it” not an automatic clean it every x amount of miles.

I’m also scratching my head on the whole power steering fluid change at 30K and conditioner for the coolant. But then again for $1900 they will check my battery terminals and clean and tighten them up 🤣

For $1,900 they better drain more than your front/rear diffs 🤪.

They are trying to hit their goal with that list. Go by the book, except:
Rear diff if you haven't done it. Should be done at 500 - 700 miles, then good for 50k- 100k depending in towing.
Trans/ transfer case- 60k, then again with a filter at 120k. I do them at 5k drain n fill then the aforementioned interval.
Brake fluid- YES!
Power steering- should have been done at the 1st or 2nd oil change. Do it if it hasn't been done.

Let's also be clear that Ford cannot deny a warranty claim because the work was done elsewhere. Or even by you. If that is still your concern, buy the fluids and have your indy mechanic use those.

Oh, and the EGR cleaning? 😆😆 I've seen plenty of trucks with 300k+ on the factory emissions equipment. It's fine

I just did a full brake fluid, both diffs/T Case and Transmission service at 45k miles... all fluids were spotless (minus brakes) and probably could have gone another 20k miles.

My Ford advisor said it best, "as long as you do it at, or before 60k miles Ford won't care".

To clean your EGR hook up a trailer and drive it like you stole it.
Yeah “egr cleaning” from a dealer is a total scam. My friends son is a diesel mechanic at a ford dealer, I asked him about this. He told me they sell this service and they put an additive in the fuel. Total rip off scam. I’ve seen plenty of trucks with stock emissions with no cleaning of the egr other than heat from duty cycle, make it well passed 300k.

Total rip off.

Open your owners manual and follow factory recommendations as far as service intervals. My truck got the front/rear diffs done at 75 k along with the trans, and that’s probably overkill.

‘Coolant conditioner” what’s that? Some additive that does nothing. I just changed all my coolant at 85k due to changing out a hose, coolant tested fine. I did my brake fluid around 80k when I changed my brakes. Power steering… still factory, still fine.

Go to a local shop if you really want to do this and keep the copy of the record, you don’t need to go to a dealer.

Give er the ol Italian tuneup
This is the best way to clean an egr. Before someone says something, yup those are SPE lab plates, can’t find any other flow through plates made by anyone else anymore easily.
