What's a "blend date"?

And, when reading the thread title before my first few ounces of morning java... I though Modified had ordered a new truck! Hahaha.

I need to get used to the acronym MY, even though I've used it when writing posts.

*sips coffee*

Oh, also:

Reading this thread makes me wanna order a new truck! yet save for the lack of any front-mounted camera, I love my truck. It ain't goin' nowhere but to a cars-N-coffee this mornin! and then out to the Mojave desert, back here, then back to Utah, back to California, and so on ad infinitum. Love this thing so much I want several. Hahaha!

What's a "blend date"?

A blend date is the anticipated date of final assembly — essentially when the vehicle gets “blended” together as it moves through the final stages of production.

You’ll find the blend date near the top of the window sticker, which is typically generated about a week (give or take a few days) before the scheduled build week.

In the example below, the blend date is 320220426:
  • 3 = internal plant/shift code
  • 20220426 = April 26, 2022

This indicates the vehicle was scheduled to go down the final assembly line on April 26, 2022.

Thank you. Taken in context, I figured something of the sort.

Now, thanks to YOU, I can look at my truck's window sticker for it's blend date.

According the silver data plate placard on my truck's driver doorjamb, she was built 04/25.

Speaking of the window sticker... I remember when I was much younger, selling Toyotas in another misguided attempt at making a living, the nickname for it: "go look on the Monroney".

"The nickname honors Senator Mike Monroney of Oklahoma . He sponsored the Automobile Information Disclosure Act of 1958, which federally mandated that all new cars display standardized pricing and equipment details on their side windows." - Seyfarth Shaw

What are everyone’s thoughts on the digital rear view mirror? $895 option I added to my 2027 order but having second thoughts. I hear that with a push of a button it can be turned off to look like a regular mirror. Is this accurate?

Putting this order through tomorrow. Really bummed avalanche was dropped as a color. So torn as to which color to go for now. Carbon grey seems like the best way to go as it’ll look great with black accents. But glacier grey is the closest to avalanche and I’m thinking about switching to that. Decisions, decisions…

Also, does anyone have photos of what the retractable rear and side bed steps look like?

While our truck's rear-view cameras are a boon to safety (to see into that below-the-truck-bed-level blind spot that children, pets or even old folks can wander into while the truck is backing, or for the odd solid, metal post in parking lots), I don't really use my truck's center-mounted rearview mirror.

The truck's side view mirrors are all I need (and that front-mounted camera that my slimmed-down, no-options XLT is missing, but I may add that in one form or another) for any regular driving and towing.

Put that 900 towards your first road trip fuel budget.

Just a curiosity thing so 27 order banks have been open what/why does it take the ford computer nerds so long to update the build and price on fords site anybody know ?

It all comes down to the fact that Ford relies on two entirely different systems for ordering. Dealerships use a barebones, text-based software that can be updated instantly, while the public website is a massive, visually complex marketing tool that takes weeks to build and test.

When order banks open, dealerships use an internal system called WBDO (Web Based Dealer Ordering). WBDO isn't pretty—it is essentially a raw database where dealers punch in alphanumeric order codes.

The consumer-facing website is completely separate from WBDO and requires a massive amount of backend work before it can go live.

There is also a strategic element to the delay. Opening the order banks to dealers first allows Ford to get massive fleet orders and serious "in-the-know" retail buyers into the queue immediately. This helps the factory gauge initial demand and identify potential commodity constraints (parts shortages) before the general public floods the system via the website.

Makes sense just seems like sometimes it’s way behind like several months

It definitely feels ridiculous that a multi-billion-dollar automaker takes months to update a webpage, but that massive delay is actually entirely by design.

When the gap between the order banks opening and the Build & Price (B&P) site updating stretches into several months, it usually comes down to three strategic corporate reasons:

1. Protecting Current Inventory

This is the biggest driver of a long delay. If dealers still have a lot of the previous model year's vehicles sitting on their lots, Ford will intentionally delay the new B&P site. The moment the new model year goes live online, casual web shoppers immediately view the current lot inventory as "old" and start demanding massive discounts. Keeping the B&P focused on the older model gives dealers a few extra months of runway to clear out existing stock at better margins.

2. The "Enthusiast" Filter

Ford knows exactly who is placing orders the day the banks open: fleet managers and hardcore enthusiasts. Those buyers have already read the PDF Order Guides front-to-back, know exactly what specs they want, and don't need 3D visualizers to make a decision. Ford can capture those guaranteed, high-intent sales through the barebones dealer system without needing to hold their hand with a polished consumer website.

3. Commodity Constraints and Late Availability

Often, Ford will open order banks knowing that certain trims, tech packages, or physical parts won't actually be available to manufacture for another four to six months.

If they put it on the public B&P site: Average consumers get angry when the website lets them build a vehicle that the factory can't actually deliver for a year.

If they keep it in the dealer system: The salesperson can look at the internal commodity constraint list and directly explain to the buyer, "We can order this package, but because of a parts shortage, it's going to delay your build by five months."

Essentially, the dealer network acts as a buffer to manage expectations, handle parts shortages, and clear out old inventory before the general public is invited to start clicking around.

According to the 27MY order guide, you can’t have the 7.3 with the Lariat premium or ultimate package. Was hoping you proved it wrong.
I have a 27 Lariat 7.3 with premium Pkg on order..

Anybody get scheduled today?

Supposedly today’s the day they were going to start scheduling retail orders.

Checked with my dealer yesterday—some orders have been pulled and scheduled, just not mine…😕

My build was submitted as a priority order but I've mentally prepared myself for a mid Sept delivery. Anything sooner is gravy.. The wife and I have a mini vacation planned for early September, it would be great to have it in time for that but not going to hold my breath.. I know once I do get it, my wallet/bank account is just going to bleed money!! 💸💸:ROFLMAO:

Question: What determines or shows it was a high priority order? My order has Priority Code: 03 and not sure what that means. Info on this is appreciated. Thanks.

My understanding is Priority Code 3 is the highest code for a dealership. Mine is the same..
