That’s why dealers should be required to take a $1000-$2000 minimum Non-Refundable Deposit. It would slow this. The ordered doesn’t get purchased and it goes back into dealer stock. That dealer got a vehicle faster for stock than he would have normally. If you want the privilege to prefer a few, no problem, it should cost you a bit. It's crappy and unethical because it artificially inflates the demand on retail orders which pushes other retail orders out. Many folks including myself are waiting to be scheduled. When people do this, they're filling up the queue with custom orders that could have been used by people that actually intend on following through. Those throw away retail orders basically end up being stocking orders when they arrive at the dealer. There's lots of things that aren't illegal or against the rules, doesn't make it any less shitty.
I think that would be too hard for Ford to enforce, especially since many dealers are complicit in this. Best way would be for Ford to track the custom orders through delivery and blacklist abusers from future orders. There could be an appeal process with Ford if there were extenuating circumstances like the dealer made a mistake on the order entry, although the buyer signs the order in most cases. That’s why dealers should be required to take a $1000-$2000 minimum Non-Refundable Deposit. To a point. But they are taking parts away from another truck now being delayed because those parts were used for someone’s 2nd or even 3rd option that they don’t need or want now.Tremor stock allocations are determines by sales performance as far as I know. The best thing that can happen for a dealership these days is a retail order falling through. No need to white knight for Ford. People ordering several trucks are having an absolutely negligible effect on how long another customers order takes.
I see both sides of it. On one hand, it could be taking parts from someone who has an order filed. But it will also get some trucks on the lot too for someone who happens upon one and is willing to pay msrp. It keeps the economy flowing and people working. To a point. I think ford would love to do that and why they tried /trying to seperate their ev /ice a few years ago but i think the allocations based on EV sales is what they figured was the best they could do. It’s going to be hard for legacy companies to compete with disruptor companies. Some will be ok- some will go away. In 50 years or or so some new company will be created to take on Tesla’s lack of efficiency. How life/business works.I would love to see direct to consumer sales and have dealers just become service and accessory centers or used car lots. But that would require some laws changing. That topic could probably be its own monster thread. Challenges would be around how folks test drive
i think it really just depends on what dealer you ordered from. For instance…. I ordered a 23 KR Tremor from my dealer December 2022 (about 6 weeks after the order banks opened up then converted it when ford allowed orders for King ranch - limited ) I got it last August. I think they started production a month or two before I got mine. Someone on here would know when production started. So what is the average allotment of time from order to deliver? 2 month? four?
Do you have a date shown under "In Production" on the tracker? My Truck changed to "In Production" on 12/20 with no date. On 1/5, I called Ford and they said that when it moves to in production, the order is sent to the plant and you are waiting to get on the line. My truck was built on 1/8, which was my production week. You will likely see the date populate under "In Production" and "Built" on or near your production week.I have officially been in production a week now. What timeframe has everyone else been seeing?
Talk to your dealer, but keep your expectations low. I would like to tell you to expect 4-6 months for delivery, but problems with the parts supply chain is a real concern. Shipping after build is about a month depending on your location. A lower priority code may help in getting scheduled sooner, but you better have a good relationship with your dealership. So what is the average allotment of time from order to deliver? 2 month? four?
Saw this yesterday. Step in the right direction. https://m.energytrend.com/news/20230612-32290.htmlI think ford would love to do that and why they tried /trying to seperate their ev /ice a few years ago but i think the allocations based on EV sales is what they figured was the best they could do. Yes mine shows no date as well with a schedule week of 1/8. When I contacted Ford chat they said scheduled to be built on 1/13. Not sure if they work on Saturdays or if that is just what they say, it should be done by end of week.Do you have a date shown under "In Production" on the tracker?
