2020 F250 Tremor “Transmission Problems" Gen1/Gen2?

Suddenly started having transmission issues with my one month old truck today. 950 miles on it and the transmission is intermittently struggling to shift and/or shifting VERY hard going in or out of 5th gear in either direction and sometimes the same thing between 8 and 9. I’m not hearing the same noises described here, and I have the 6.7L ... maybe a different issue altogether, but still very concerning and disheartening.
Following. I'm still waiting for my dealer to contact Ford, and dealer says Ford is notorious for being slow to respond, like a couple weeks or more. I'm more frustrated my with dealer right now being slow to even contact Ford, it's been over 2 weeks and they've just said they've been busy. Well crap! Too busy just to call their Ford rep? I feel your frustration

Going to dealership to diagnose?

NEW ISSUE

My truck skips 2nd gear. Pretty much all the time, in fact it's skipped every time now that I've noticed it. The problem is that it can cause a lurch. The rpm stays high in 1st and then lurches when it jumps 2nd and goes to 3rd. Conceivably it could cause a problem when starting out on ice for example, slow accel then a lurch could make the rear end break loose.

The only time I can get it to go in to 2nd is on downshift, slow and carefully trying to get it in to 2nd.

Anyone else?

I think this is yet another demonstration of the typical 10R behavior: https://www.fordtremor.com/threads/slight-surging-rough-when-cold-anyone-else.1384/#post-37243

However, the "very hard" shifting is subjective. Hard shifts are common with 10Rs. Hard to tell from a forum if your "hard shift" is within that range or not.

My dealer has told me there is now a Ford TSB for this scraping noise under load. I still don't see anything regarding this on Ford's VIN recall site. Dealer said it's something to do with torque converter bolts scraping on the flex plate.

But parts are on order and it will be fixed.

My truck only goes to 2nd sometimes when I accelerate just right out of the driveway and usually results in a rough shift enough to where I check and see, yep it went into 2nd. Like @Trämör said, it seems to be a characteristic of the transmission. Others had noted a scraping, not Tremors, and found out there their transmission had issues. One dude on youtube had his transmission replaced. I believe one or two guys on the forum have had and/or are having their transmissions replaced. I have not yet heard any scraping or anything of the sort in my truck.

I have paid much closer attention and it does shift in to 2nd, just not at all very often. Maybe it will be different with a load ?

Yesterday the dealer confirmed Ford issued a TSB on transmission. Parts were ordered and received within 5 days. Appt on Dec 14 for install.

Yeah pretty sure this is normal operation with stock programming as mine does it as well. I feel like there are some improvements that could be made by ford with just the shift programming. With 4.30 gears 1st gear feels too low unloaded, seems like it should be taking off in 2nd. The 1st to 3rd shift does cause some lurching as well as its a pretty big jump. It also will shift into 1st during a slow roll, I dont think it should ever downshift to first unless completely stopped, a slow roll should always be 2nd gear unless in tow/haul.

Well my dealer says the torque converter is on backorder from Ford, just like I've heard elsewhere from others on this forum. Anyone else still waiting? If not, how long did it take to get parts?

UPDATE: Just got my truck back today. It went in to dealer 12/14/20. Waited for the torque converter that long.

My Tremor has been great (4k miles) but my XLT shop truck with 2k miles is awaiting a torque converter, dealer states still on backorder. Drive it almost everyday, horribly noisy while sitting at a drive thru but still drives fine.

My truck fixed itself after a week or two. Both the dealer and forum members said it was normal operation, but I’ve been driving for 25+ years and what I experienced was not normal. The truck was bucking and lurching to the point that I almost shut it down and called a tow. Was not sure I would make it home.

Regardless, it slowly got better on its own and seems to be fine now. There is still an occasional hard shift, but nothing like what I experienced. I’m no longer worried about it, and I did my part taking it to the dealer to get looked at.

Truck has also been in shop 3 different occasions with truck pulling to the right sharply and steering wheel off center. Alignment was off. They replaced casters and realigned to no avail truck still as it was beforehand. Alignment now shows good. Very frustrating.
Ditto. Always had pulling to the right that was random. Had tires rotated/balanced by Discount and off center wheel began. Did fix my shimmy at 45mph though. They (my purchasing dealer) never did anything when I brought it to them long ago about it, among other things and actually lied to me saying they had and that it was road force crap...
Now I have a blown trans first time towing up the Mountain (Mt. Charleston, NV.) Sad thing is I was only pulling a 7,500 pound Toy Hauler and babying it by going slow watching my temps, etc...Guess I'll get whichever gen they're up to by now? With my luck there's probably a million others in shop now and no transmissions to be had. Call it good or bad if it's there longer than a month I'm pretty sure lemon law is on my side.
Too bad really as it was my first special order vehicle, thus had all the options I picked.

I'll probably get screwed out of a loaner as well.
Gonna get interesting. Just got the TH from Houston and was looking forward to doing some traveling this summer. Ford doesn't do the right thing it's gonna be the last one I'll ever own for sure.
I don't care if a new truck just came off the assembly line. They should ship it to Vegas and get me back on the road as my TH is presently sitting on the side off a cliff that a motor home just rolled off.

2020 F350 7.3 Lariat Tremor 10k with a Jan/February 2020 build date. So, it probably has that strange window with the engine tsb thing? I read it somewhere and the don't deliver date notification to dealer date in it was exact same date I took delivery of the truck. I'll have to look it up and get my exact build dates. Might as well drop a new engine in while it's there...
KILLA

I know about the spark plug wire issue. Actually purchased a couple wires when I heard about backorder with them just in case.
Thing is I don't know if my check engine light is in a different location than xlt or there us a separates light for each trans and engine as mine is flashing on the left side of dash where as I saw a video that a check engine was flashing on right side near speedo. Guess it's time to bust out this bluetooth scanner and figure out how to use it.
Got a couple hrs to kill before tow comes.
Wouldn't want to randomly swap wires if didn't have to.

So, if someone knows about the check light please chime in. Maybe I'll be able to do the dash prestart light check thing even though it's push button start and see if there are 2 lights? Never really gave it any thought till now.
Thanks

Just spoke with dealer and not trans according to codes misfire cylinder 2-3. Hopefully the 2 wire I have do the job.

Numers are from front 1-4 pass, 5-8 driver

0302 misfire #2. Swapped wires reset codes, ran dtc check and no more codes, check engine light gone.
So, is there a wait list for this gen 2 swap??? This gen 1 really sucks balls

I have a 2020 7.3 with about 21k on it. Ordered it in 19 and picked it up mid Jan 2020.

In the last few thousand miles it has been shifting very erratic and slips into gears during acceleration. It doesn't have that positive shift it use to have. Now in the last week it has got stuck in 10th gear at a stop. When I accelerate it takes a few seconds then jumps down to first. This is now the second big issue with my truck. The first was an incorrect fan on the engine that took several attempts to get figured out. The blades were pitched the wrong direction causing overheating. I'm losing interest in this Tremor because of the problems.
