Sludgemonkey44’s Build and Other Things Tremor

I had some time on Sunday so I recruited my wife to help me throw on my Bakflip MX4. It was a fairly simple install. Very straightforward. It could be done with one person but a second set of hands helps for rail mounting and placing the cover. It took a little less than two hours from unboxing to Old Fashioned cocktail time, and I was overly meticulous. So far I’m very happy with it.

Last night I finished up another minor addition. The day I put my front liners on, I also attempted to put a set of 4 Weathertech mud flaps on my truck. The good news was they all fit fine. The backs went on with no troubles. The bad news was that the OEM screws I was supposed to reuse on the fronts (as per the directions that came with it) were too short with the addition of the thickness of the flaps. Several calls and emails later, I was able to get someone at Weathertech to send me the correct length screws. They showed up last night and I slapped the fronts on in a few minutes. Took a picture of the bag for the replacement screws in case anyone else runs into this issue. Done!View attachment 8100View attachment 8101View attachment 8102View attachment 8103View attachment 8104View attachment 8105
I’m looking to order the Weathertech mud flaps. Is the correct model number: 110066-120066? Thanks!

I ripped open my (76 lb) box and pulled out my 3” shank 8” drop Bulletproof Hitch, my 3 (keyed alike) locking hitch pins and my 3”-2” reducer sleeve, and went to town fitting and testing.View attachment 7732View attachment 7733View attachment 7734View attachment 7730View attachment 7731View attachment 7735
How did you get Ford pass points so fast?

I had them within days of picking up my truck. It was one of the few things that was on time/ahead of time for me. Maybe I was lucky in this case? You should definitely have them by now.

Here’s a shot of my shipping receipt. Hopefully that helps. I believe you have the correct number.

This weekend I got another mini truck upgrade off the list. I picked up some lettering for the hood, tailgate, and upper glove box from TVD Vinyl. I went with the gloss black to match the grille and badges. Since I have basically ten thumbs and horrible patience, I recruited my lovely assistant (aka the wife) to help me put them on. Well more like I helped her put them on. Seems like the tailgate is most difficult to get the alignment right since the lettering sticks out on the tailgate as opposed to being recessed like the other two. Probably took 1.5-2 hours to put on all three sets. We used a hair dryer to warm up the spots before application. The decals are good quality and a good price. So far I would definitely recommend.

I had the OEM ones on my F150. They were just fine. I figured I’d try something different this time. I actually like the fit of these a little better. They are rock sold and come with some PPF to put behind them before installation. They don’t hang too terribly low, but I already heard the fronts block a rock the Duratracs removed from my driveway and attempted to chuck into my paint.

searching back in the archives for thoughts on mud flaps and came across your build @Sludgemonkey44. It’s looking awesome and love all the ideas I’m getting going thru the thread.

with regards to the weathertechs flaps you put on...does anyone know the part #s for the OEMs? Ford site isn’t real clear...wheel lip no wheel lip. Maybe I’m slow. I really like the looks of the weathertechs but always like to comparison shop.

Thank you for the kind words about the truck. They do consider the truck to have a wheel lip. Look at the above post or the picture of my receipt and you should see the part number.

Just ordered the D Rings and Isolator kit...threw in the bungee set to get free shipping and the BALLISTIC20 code got me 20% off. Thank you all the hints and sharing the build! Keep up the great work! I have not gotten mine yet but it will be fun adding all the stuff I am stacking up when it arrives.....late January. I hope!

Just ordered the Bullet Proof 6 inch drop also. Yhat should work great with my boat. And the weather tech for front and back. You are costing me money .... lol I just need a truck to put it on. Keep giving us ideas!!!!!

I’m off work today and we actually have some decent weather for once, so I decided it was time for an oil change and mini upgrade. The oil change isn’t worth detailing besides I was a little early on it (4K) but I wanted to get one in before the winter really set in. I decided to go full synthetic. I threw in a pic of a few tools and what I’m using. Thanks to someone on this site posting a link, I started looking at SPE products for the diesels. I picked up one of their drain valves for the fuel and water separator. The plastic OEM one is pretty flimsy and looks like it’s begging to have one or both of its tabs busted off. I went with the SPE billet replacement piece in green. It took forever for the separator to drain, but once it did, I removed (and saved for a spare) the OEM and replaced it with the billet. It took some jiggling and cursing to get the OEM one out. The new one went in like a breeze.

Good choice! I’m still loving mine.

I was worried about the SPE valve getting ice cold in the winter vs the plastic, it is nice looking but is it going to cause fuel issues in the winter?

Well I live in the snow belt of western PA so time will tell. I’ll post again if I run into any issues with the cold. I’m glad that I don’t have to worry about getting stranded when the little yellow tabs bust off however.
