Looking for the next one…again
We putting a Bundutec Roadrunner 3300 lb (ish) wet weight on our rig. I’ve done many suspension mods in the past, but since this has a lift, want to hear from your experiance with camper suspension mods. NO AIRBAGS. Too many bad experiances. So we Looking at

Hellwig Sway
Sumo Springs
Timberen
Torklift Stable Load

Please let us know what you’ve used on your F350 Tremor specifically. And what results you feel. At this point we’re going to spend the $$$ to get it right.

Thanks, Paul

I have similar setup with stock F-350 Tremor with 2800 lb. (Dry) Northern-Lite 8-11 camper. With camper on the rear sag is 3-1/2". Haven't measured front sag. The rear overload springs just touch slightly with camper on. The truck actually sits pretty level with camper on, but headlights are pointed high. I've traveled a couple thousand miles at 70-80 mph both with a 5000 lb., boat in tow and without. Other than the sway and headlight issue I'm surprised at how level it sits. I am also considering either sumo springs or Torklift Stable Loads. Agree with no airbags.

We considered the Northern lite too, nice unit! Good to see it does not sag too much.

What was the reason you chose against the Northern Lite?
We wanted some customized options that the NL factory , and other factories were not willing or able to do. I understand it, they make production units, with a few limited options.

Bundutec we’d seen at Overland Expo before and they are a semi-custom to custom shop. We wanted a particular Truma Combi heating system, whch Bundutec provides, along with a cassette toilet and custom 3000w inverted solar electrical system lithium batteries With B2B charging, and additional 12v and 120v outlets and a low current draw AC Unit. No one else we spoke to would do that. Plus we like that they are a small team, all handbuilt .

Any update on what you guys ended up installing?

Just picked up our new 22 350 last week and looking to get it outfitted to carry our 8-11 northern lite.

had traditional airbags and lower stable loads on our last truck

Congratulations on taking delivery of your 350 Tremor. I have the same truck (platinum 6.7, payload rating 3383# and a 2021 NL 811 (2800# dry) Make sure you add about 2" support between truck bed and camper. I use 3/8' rubber mat with 1-1/4' plywood (hard to find but available) with another 3/8" mat on top. It works perfect for cab clearance and no camper movement in the truck. I started with no suspension upgrades, and it works fine but I wanted to stiffen for sag and sway. I started by adding the new style lower Stable loads (no drilling needed) and later added upper SuperSprings for the upper overloads. They are a better fit and design than the Tork Lift version of upper StableLoads. With this combination I still have about 2" of rear sag, but the truck sits perfectly level when measuring the front and rear fender well height. No need for airbags and the only other consideration in a rear sway bar. I know it would help out but I really don't mind the amount of sway as it is now. I also question if the rear sway bar isn't hard on the components it attached to? Truck.JPG

You might also check into the Roadmaster Active Suspension. I had these installed on my F350 to eliminate rear sag when towing. They work as advertised.

appreciate all the good info. I was wondering how much lift the camper was going to need to clear the cab.

coming from my 2002 f350 the NL8-11 required 2 sheets of 3/4" ply + the NL recommended 3/8" rubber mat. Look like ill need to add another layer to the mix.

Also - what was your experience with the lower stableloads? i had them on the old truck and found them to be helpful but looking at the lower overload spring on the new Tremor is doesn't look like there is any available room between the overload and the normal springs.

I live in the Seattle are so I'm fortunate to have the Torklfit headquarters about 20 minutes away from work. Planning to swing in there next week to get a quote for the 30k super hitch, tie downs and stable loads.

getting ready to pull the trigger on the firestone airbags from eTrailer.

I don’t have a camper but I’ve read multiple articles that people really love the yellow sumosprings for that application. I run the black sumosprings for my toy hauler and couldn’t be happier. The price is unbeatable and the ride quality while not towing is great.

I need to do some more reading on those. I like the idea of how they work but the warning "Black SumoSprings shouldn’t be compressed past 65% of their original height in order to keep full memory rebound." concerns me a bit.

How will i know if they are over 65% compressed until i get them on there? Seems like the airbags is an easier solution at this point. You can run them down to 5psi which should transmit much feel when the truck is unloaded.

Yellow 54 sumosprings are rated at 2,800 lbs
Black 47 are 1,500lbs

Hi, I wouldn’t recommend two sheets of plywood as they will have a tendency to slide on each other. I found 1.25” plywood in N. Seattle. If you’re in the Leavenworth/Wenatchee area let me know and I can show you my setup. I also had TorkLift install my lower Stableloads when they were looking for testing. They fit great and easy to disengage. I use a floor jack under the hitch to release some of the weight on the springs and then easy to engage or disengage the Stableloads. TorkLift is great and depending on how much weight you intend to pull you may not need the Super Hitch. I bought from them what’s called a Cannon hitch extender. It’s way over built and fits my 3” receiver. Lastly, I suggest holding off on buying airbags. I consider them a last resort. Try the other upgrades first.

Do the black or yellow Sumo’s cut down on the trailer bounce? I have a 7600 GVWR TT with 1000 tongue weight and it seams we get a fair amount of bounce and it takes a while to “settle down”. My wife says it’s making her nauseous

It sure does as they are progressive. It’s like adding a second set of shock absorbers to your truck. Best $300 I’ve spent, and I have had air ride before which I spent $2,000 on. As long as your weight falls within the capacity of the sumosprings I would never buy anything else. Such a great value for how the perform.

With your 1000lb tongue weight the black will be perfect, that’s what I run. My trailer has 1,100lb tongue weight.
