Why did I order a Tremor?

I've seen this come up on other threads. It's an interesting topic to me. If the weather is bad this weekend. I'll do a deep dive into all that you get with the Tremor. I don't think Ford does a great job of identifying all the benefits.

If there is a package I found to have little value, it is the Lariat Ultimate package. It seems really expensive for what you get, especially since it no longer comes with the sunroof. Zero times have I ever needed a power tailgate! I must be doing something wrong. And don't tell me some story about carrying a bunch of lumber and reaching for your keys to lower the tailgate.

Around half of the items come with the Lariat Value package, which I think cost me about $800.

If you are worried about why you should pay extra for a particular package or trim if you intend to upgrade then just buy an XL work truck or a trim that has just the basic things you need and wont change. Honestly though what the hell is $4000 when you are buying these expensive ass trucks. Plus half of people are getting screwed more than that by the dealer they buy from lol

Don't buy your truck to sell. Don't buy it for someone you will never meet, while deciding what equipment to sell them, or that they'll insist on getting. Buy it for yourself.

And besides, if you like it, so will someone else.

You are never going to make money by buying your truck to resell it. Buy it for yourself.

Yes! This!

It seems to me Rock Crawling mode is a waste of money. A gimmick. For a couple of reasons. But why buy a whole new suspension system before even trying the stock setup? If you do, money is not the issue. How do you know the stock setup is terrible before you even get the truck? If there is a weakness in the front suspension, it's the trailing arms, because they seem thin and they have no caster adjustments. Ram has the same design and they have adjusters. Adjusters help dial out deat

I looked at the Lariat Ultimate Package and came to the same conclusion. I can't see the value in it. Maybe if it still came with the sunroof.

Resale and value holding is always something to consider if you don’t hold vehicles more than 4 years. Doesn’t mean I didn’t buy it for me.

It might just be my set of options but the difference between an FX4 and a Tremor for me is $2,920. That's better than the $4,000 I had in my head. I'm not getting the black package or the ultimate package so I'm not getting those discounts. If I was, that would drop the $2,920 down significantly.

I'll tell my old lady I expect to sell the Tremor suspension parts, rims and tires for $2,000. That sounds possible. Then I'm looking at net $920 for the Tremor pieces I'm keeping.
Sell your sticker for 500$.

I agree, the Ultimate is a stupid gate keeping package that doesn't provide much capability but prevents you from getting Adaptive cruise control on a reasonably priced lariat. Push button start and keyless entry and power tailgate release should either be added across all lariats or just moved up a trim level.

My take is this. The tremor as-is is a beast of a hauler set up to be moderately good offroad. It's not going to do the shit jeeps with 4 inch lifts and 37s are gonna do. Or even what people with half ton or HD trucks lifted with 37s will do. It's a perfect truck for someone who wants to mix work or tow/haul shit with playing in the dirt/mud.

$4K is worth it just for the limited slip front diff. Going out and finding a limited slip front for a regular superduty and then installing it will probably cost that much. Then as a bonus you get a 2 inch lift (sort of, blocks in the back) and decent enough tires. It's a perfect truck for people who want to dabble in light to moderate offroading. It's def very capable out of the box, but it could use wider tires. Still the approach and departure angle on any pickup is just shit compared to a jeep or other purpose built offroader and is gonna be a limiting factor unless you want to lift 6+ inches and put 40s on it.

Rock Crawl mode is software gimmick faggotry and shouldn't enter the equation.

So....replacing the suspension and lifting it isn't getting rid of all the crap that makes it a tremor. it's all about the front diff IMO, and tbh Ford should have put a locker on that too but limited slip is next best thing I guess.

The truck comes stock with everything I need, really quite a bit more than I need, for my actual lifestyle (not the lifestyle I daydream about). If I end up lifting it at all and going with 37s it would honestly be 90% aesthetics. I'm not afraid to get this truck dirty and try some shit, but I don't realistically have the time for a major offroading hobby. I hardly get out on my motorcycle, to the gun range, or to do any of my other hobbies (competitive public masturbation tourneys). I'm lucky to get a Saturday truly free and it often ends up being some kind of family day. Sometimes after a long work week I just want to plant my ass in a chair outside next to the smoker and run some ribs and rip cigars and bourbon. If I had the time, and money to fix all the shit that would break all the time I'd probably be into hardcore wheeling......but then I'd probably build up an old beat up jeep and keep the $90K truck in decent shape (at least til it's paid off).

I’m buying the 6.7 tremor because I want to tow my 36’ travel trailer all over the U.S and have the ability to take it anywhere the trail takes me on my hunting adventures. Not to mention the black on black Lariat looks bad ass. Don’t have to dick around building it up.

I already have a Wrangler Rubicon for more hard-core 4 wheeling.
The main thing I want the Tremor for is hauling my Black Series HQ19 to great camping locations around the Country, and delivering equipment for my business. Sometimes lots of highway, and sometimes lots of desert trails. I do not want to get stuck and have to call for help, but I do venture way out off the beaten path.
So, I want four wheel drive, I like the rear locker and the front gear type limited slip. I like hubs. I'm a diesel guy, but not into Ford diesels. I don't particularly like the extremely long wheelbase, but I want the four doors (always previously been a standard cab kinda guy). I like the factory 4.30 gears and the tall tires. Wider would be better in sand, but narrower tires steer better, roll easier, and are better for all around use. I'm more into function than looks. I like the built-in winch. I gave up on V8 gas trucks years ago and went to Cummins in my last three trucks. But now, the simplicity of the new 7.3, as well as its strength, ease of working on it, less overall weight, variable valve timing, pushrod design, and low end torque, have won me over. The front suspension is identical to the Ram design, with the exception of no caster adjustments on the Tremor. It is a very good design. Simple, strong and retains the straight axle. I also like the surround camera system.
The rock crawl/hill descent stuff is worthless to me. I know I can drive better and get myself out of trouble better than that system can ever do. It can only be reactive while climbing, which is too late, and it is potentially dangerous in a steep downhill situation, where you can't always hold back and retain traction or steering.
