I would get a restraining order. I understand the kid has special needs...that doesn't mean his folks get turn him loose and let the neighborhood to deal with him....Luckily this time no one was hurt, just property damage.

Single mother and poor or not, was her decision to have the child as it is a result of life choices. I agree you need to have her held accountable in some form. Ive worked cases where things similar to this were the beginning of MUCH larger problems that could have been addressed through various forms of aid (mental health, guidance, intervention, ect.) It really needs to be documented and bare minimum through LE.The police were involved as he damaged three cars and attacked his mother with the stick as she tried to wrangle him. Filed a report for 2-10k in damages and the cop said to press charges so that the mother could get help with him. Single mother and I imagine quite poor so not sure what will happen. Never had to deal with damage that wasn't car vs car or tree vs house![]()
If your dealing with a teen, aka as a juvenile, in most states actual criminal charges can't be filed, add the known mental health issues it further complicates it. A report to law enforcement for documentation is needed. The only recourse is civil with the responsible adult. This is just a bad situation for everyone involved.Single mother and poor or not, was her decision to have the child as it is a result of life choices. Not going to give legal advice but pressing charges may be the better answer as it can lead to her getting help with him, documentation, some kind of resolve on your end, and maybe preventing this in the future.
Welllllll….not 100% accurate. I have arrested or charged juveniles in the past. It comes down to the DA, code section specifics, and minimum age in your state to charge a juvenile. Either way the purpose is not to necessarily incarcerate the kid, it would be to seek mental health and aid for the parent and community. If your dealing with a teen, aka as a juvenile, in most states actual criminal charges can't be filed, add the known mental health issues it further complicates it. That's basically what the cop said. File charges and it'll help her get help for him. They have dealt with him on multiple occasions because, like I said, he will attack his mother and she is barely big enough to do anything about it. I believe they took him in yesterday, but they could've just had him in the car for everyone's safety while they filled out reports and whatnotWelllllll….not 100% accurate. You are a leaving out a two pretty significant piece of the equation here. First... no one chooses whether their kid has severe mental/physical disabilities, and poverty absolutely plays a part here (regardless of the good or bad "life choices" that led to them getting pregnant). I have a few close friends who have children with various levels of disability (downs syndrome, autism, etc.) It's a full time job to raise a kid with a disability this severe that would be challenging even for two healthy engaged parents with above average incomes, (especially if help from the state is limited). Which brings up the second piece... where the f*** is the dad? Did he bail after he knocked her up and/or got fed up with the kid's issues and left mom holding the bag? It is incredibly rare that you encounter someone who is parenting a child with disabilities who is the type of complete sociopath that would just throw up their hands and let their kid run feral. Blade has absolutely done the right thing by keeping his cool here, an admirable response.Single mother and poor or not, was her decision to have the child as it is a result of life choices.
I should have mentioned this in yesterday's post but given the situation you describe, you may well have to file with your own insurance and let them decided whether to attempt any recovery from the vandal's mother, hence needing documentation from police. Sounds to me like you got good advice from the officer you talked to.The police were involved as he damaged three cars and attacked his mother with the stick as she tried to wrangle him. Oh please don't take it that way, having disabilities is not a choice…just the sex part. Being poor or rich however doesn't justify lack of accountability. You are a leaving out a two pretty significant piece of the equation here. It's a truly horrible situation all around, and from what Blade is saying from the cops on scene, it sounds like he will be made whole and that this incident may at least actually help the mom get her son the help he needs... but I would expect a fair amount more empathy towards all parties involved here

Kinda the way our system works these days when it works at all. Wait for bad thing to happen, then allocate resources to try to address future problems.

Neighborhood kid, autistic teenager, decided to take a few of my 3-6# rocks from around my mailbox and throw them at my truck today while I was at work. He took out the neighbor's mini cooper back glass, as well as a stick to yet another neighbor's little rav 4 looking car. Taking the new camper out this weekend and hour away. Poor wife is going to have to listen to the wa-was from the window(packing taped up) the whole trip![]()
No way, I can't believe this happened to you again. I am so pissed off for you brother!View attachment 232282View attachment 232283View attachment 232285
Made it a whole year before the whole came back. Was my wife's car this time at least, not that that makes it any less infuriating...![]()
Yeah, I told the cop lady that he was lucky I wasn't home both times and if I was I would have put his ass on the ground. She said she's had to do it multiple times....No way, I can't believe this happened to you again. I am so pissed off for you brother!
Truly unbelievableYeah, I told the cop lady that he was lucky I wasn't home both times and if I was I would have put his ass on the ground. She said she's had to do it multiple times....This time we're calling CPS and hopefully having him moved somewhere the F else. Especially glad it was not the Tremor this time because our last company insurance dropped us due to all three company trucks getting F'd up one way or another last year. Guess I'm glad my wife was able to run him off before he had a chance to move onto the truck which sits a few feet away from hers.
