Weight distributing hitch

With the Pro Pride, you really get what you pay for though! It’s the best one out there for both sway and weight distribution. Ran it with our 36’ TT and the piece of mind you get with it vs an ordinary weight/sway hitch is worth every penny!
One other pro/con, when hitching you need to line up the "stinger" onto the hitch (which with backup cameras isn't very challenging) but it requires lining up side/side, elevation, and angle. Really not hard once you get used to it but not as easy as merely positioning the ball under the hitch. BUT after that its much simpler as you just run the jacks to their setting to tension the weight bars. Versus a friction bar hitch where you have to install the bars onto the hitch (that you had to remove when you unhitched), run the camper jack way up to lift the back of the vehicle and/or use a pry bar to lever the bars onto the friction hangers and when unhitching pry them off the hangers with the process in reverse. Lets grunting imho once you know how to line it up.

Another ProPride user here. A very stable & robust piece of kit and once you get used to lining up the stinger, hitching and unhitching is a piece of cake. The latest design makes it very simple to tension the weight distribution bars and they never have to be detached - everything stays in one piece. The only downside is the cost but buy once / cry once and smile the rest of the time!

I looked into those initially but it seems to be somewhat limited with how much weight it can redistribute. My TT has 1100-1200lbs at the tongue... I liked everything else about it though.
Yes the Andersen is better suited for lighter loads and smaller trailers. My core customers pull 2800 pound fiberglass Casita campers usually with something light duty like a Toyota highlander or Honda Pilot. The Andersen set up is perfect for those. Also the linear pull from the chains is easier on the wimpy 3" C-channel frame than a spring bar pulling down on it. For 1000+ tongue weight and bigger trailers, I think you'd want something heavier duty with spring bars.

I have used the Anderson now for a year or 2 on my old 2019 F250 and my father in law also has one for his f150. I used it to pull a 36ft 8000lb camper with 0 issues. Knocks down the sway and stops the bounce. My father in law uses it to pull about a 24ft trailer with tractor and equipment. I had a curt WD hitch and it was a pain to hook and unhook, it was loud and rough. The Andersen is simple get to the site pull the pin out of the brackets and hitch ball and done.
With a 3 inch shank I thought these had more of a rating.

Another perk to the Andersen (besides the built in anti-sway) is that it doesn't have to be unhooked to reverse.

Either build your own with a bulletproof or GenY hitch, the adaptor and equalizer without the shank or use a 2.5” hitch with the reducer.

A solid trunnion hitch is far superior than one with the chains and slider bar. The ProPride or Hensley are the best but aren’t always needed if the trailer is setup properly.

I’ve been very happy with the WeighSafe TrueTow hitch since it’s has the tongue scale built into it. The only other that has a scale is the GenY Torsion one that you need the WDH adaptor.

I have an equalizer right now and has worked great.

I plan on getting the bullet proof 3" shank, with the WD adapter and then moving my equalizer to it.

Getting tired of reducers and the bullet proof setup seems to be solid / most versatile.

I liked that aspect as well but have found that there are no issues backing with the True Tow either...

I really like the WeighSafe WD hitch design. I have the standard WeighSafe and knowing my tongue weight when I hitch up is a real peace of mind factor. With their WD hitch you have room to open the tail gate unobstructed. That's a big plus.

This has been useful more than a few times for us!!

The equalizer with the bulletproof or GenY will do the same thing.

It’s nice being able to open the hitch but the more important thing about a longer hitch is being able to take tighter turns without hitting the bed to the trailer.

I’m happy I can drop the tailgate with my cargo trailer and the bulletproof hitch by itself.

I've had a 2" Blue Ox for the last 5 years and had no issues with it. When I upgraded from my 2012 to the 2022 SD I just bought a 2"-2.5" sleeve and used that with the OEM sleeve to make it fit. Still works just fine.

This is exactly the direction I've been thinking of going as I have been looking to add both a drop hitch and get my current Equalizer WDH to work with my new F350 and the 3" receiver. I have been debating 3" vs 2.5" just from a compatability stand point, but not having any reducers is appealing.

Did you have to buy the 3” shank separately? Everything you look at says 2 or 2.5”
This is the one I have. Looks like it has a 2" Shank. I purchased a 1" adapter separately. Sorry for the confusion.

Bulletproof has a 3" that you can then put a standard WD head on.

Don't mess around with the medium duty WD adapter. Otherwise, it's a rock-solid product that I've been very happy with.
This was going to be my suggestion

I was going to say. To get one out of the box is very rare.

We've built systems for customers with Bulletproof and Gen-Y and have also sold a few of the Weigh-Safe versions. For my current towing needs, I run a standard Weigh-Safe, but I don't have a need for a WD hitch at this point.

For WD needs, my personal favorite is from Gen-Y and it's the BOSS hitch with the Torsion-Flex system. It comes with an option for a 3" receiver and has an optional 7" or 11" drop option for the shank.

Another Propride user here. I have had it for 8 years. Had it on a 25 foot trailer towing with a 3.0 diesel unibody Mercedes suv. Felt so stable and safe. Swapped it over to the tremor and a heavier trailer. It would be hard to fathom using any other anti sway unit. You can swap out the weight distribution bars for different weights.

For long trips across country it worth the extra monies and the customer service has been excellent.
