Good evening,

Looks like viair is making a 7 pin plug for ease of use when airing up with their compressor. Is anyone using this? I think max draw on the compressor is 30Amp I can’t find what the spec is from ford.

I don’t have that one, but made one just like it for my air compressor and bed mounted fuel tank using power pole connections. So far so good. Hasn’t blown any fuses.

That’s awesome!

Battery charge circuit is off of the trailer module, and is rated for max 25A. I'm not sure what the AWG of the wiring for that circuit is, but IIRC it's not something I would throw 30A through for an extended period of time. I looked at this when I thought about making a 7-pin to Anderson adapter for some ham radio gear.

This sounds like a convenient quick fix; however, I too have the Viair 400P and know it can draw up to 30A under full load. (Typically, less) The trailer circuit has a fuse of 30A (f 26) fed through a relay and smallish wire. (At the pin 5 of the 7-pin connector/orange wire according to the schematic for the 22 YM.) But even more to consider is that the drop through extra wiring will have an effect on the voltage at the compressor. (It will be considerably less than at the battery when running under load.) Based on the schematic, it appears pin 5 is only live with the ignition on as well. It would be interesting to know which pin they tapped for their feed.

The plug option might do in a pinch but if you regularly deflate and inflate, I would opt for a better circuit. I ran a 70A circuit to the rear for the truck for the 400P. (I also modified the connector on the 400P to fit my power jack.) I use a 70A trolling plug for max current and 6 Gauge wire although the Anderson plug will work great.

Just some thoughts to consider.

I'd hardwire a connection for a compressor before using that type of power source. Now if you want to use that connection for some low power draw....pretty cool little connection.

I figured this was way too convenient of an option!
