My truck has had an issue with towing since day one. If I connect my trailer and select Electric over hydraulic brakes when towing my travel trailer, I get a message "trailer disconnected". I took it to the dealer, and they replaced the harness and socket, but it still did it. They said it might be my travel trailer, so I had the harnesses changed on it and reconnected the ground to bare metal, but it still showed the message, "Trailer disconnected". I read somewhere that it may be the Electric-over-hydraulic setting, so I switched it to Electric/Surge/None, and that stopped the message.Saw this in the news this morning.

Ford recalls more than 4.3 million vehicles. See impacted models
More than 4.3 million vehicles are being recalled by Ford Motor Company, according to a notice posted by the NHTSA.www.usatoday.com
The whitehead ford guy
U tube suggests running
Hot wire for trailer ( ect) direct from battery
He said due to heavy draw
It burns out trailer control module
That mod is on the list
Both and electric jacks ectHelp me understand the problem again. Are people trying to charge their RV batteries off the truck, or is it the battery for the trailer brake systems??
Both and electric jacks ect
According to the notice it’s a boot sequencing issue. Hence the OTA update fix. Supposedly you get a warning if the module deactivates due to the software bug, so it doesn’t sound serious unless you like to ignore warnings.Sounds like poor battery maintenance. Low power battery drawing hard on the module/components.

Update:My truck has been at the dealership since Monday 02 March. They are ordering in a new towing module, several more days lead time to get the module by 12 March.
Once replaced, then they will continue with diagnostics. At least thats what my service manager says.
