We sold our 5x8 aluminum utility trailer over the weekend. I can't say enough good things about that trailer. It towed like a dream, we put 10k+ miles on it, left it outside since 2014 and sold it with the original deck and tires still in great shape for what we paid for it new! The new owner is going to use it to move around a small gold dredge and has already put new tires on it, not worth the risk even though they looked good.

We didn't have the F350 when we bought this, just an FJ Cruiser so it was perfect for it but not ideal for some of the work we need to do with it, especially moving soil or rock, which we do often for our garden. Now that we have a big boy truck i have borrowed a friend's dump trailer a few times and it was amazing but he lives 35 miles from us one way. I had clearly been doing it wrong with the tiny trailer but 70 miles round trip each time I needed it wasn't a good plan either :)

For any gardeners out there this is the garden, left of the greenhouse is raised beds for flowers and vegetables and to the right is a small orchard with apple trees, pear trees and blueberry bushes. Its COMPLETELY run from the 15,000 gallon rainwater collection system I built a few years ago and all 32 individual watering zones are controlled by a phone app.

Now for the new toy that replaces the aluminum utility trailer. I did a bunch of research and for the money and features we landed on a Summit brand, 6 x 12, 14k lb dump trailer. Comes standard with all LED lighting, a french door / spreader gate and tarp as well as a few other really slick features. A Big Tex, Diamond C or PJ was quite a bit out of our budget but we also didn't want to get something so cheap/poorly built that we couldn't sell in the future. Overall this ticks all the boxes and I really dig the color not being black, even though my Tremor is. The construction is very similar to those brands but was less expensive. We ended up picking it up from a dealer that we had bought a flatbed aluminum trailer for hauling our Honda Talon a few years ago and they gave us a great price. I mounted up a spare tire and picked up 2 yards of drain rock to build a french drain the other day, Tremor didn't even know it was there! I'll be picking up 3 yards of compost in the next few weeks to top up the garden beds, anxious to see how that feels. If you're on the fence about getting a dump trailer just do it, they are amazing!

X3 on the kudos for the homestead and new trailer.
Dump trailers are infinitely useful. Besides material duty, I use it for the tractor transport, ATV trips and to take my wife’s car to get tires/ service/ safety inspection.
