I've been riding a BMW R1200GS for almost 20 years. For a short time a couple years ago I rode a Husky 701... dropped a tooth in the front sprocket and the thig would power wheelie easily in third gear. That would have been my dream bike at 30, or even 40, but I sold it to reduce the chance of killing myself. My last two GSs, a 2008 and a 2018, have been the GSA model. I love the bikes. Easy to ride 500 mile days with a decent seat, and comfortable for two-up. Amazingly stable on single-track, but I'm getting too old to fall. Or maybe too old to get back up after a fall? Either way, I've been Jeeping more and riding less. Some of my buddies have moved to the UTV side and are loving it. Brother has a CanAm, but two buddies just bought Hondas -- no belts to wear/break, which is nice. Amazing suspension systems too.

The Honda is great but they eat clutches for breakfast.

My buddy had a Speed UTV, waited a long time to get it but sold it and kept his Pro R instead.

So many have sold their spots and Speed UTVs and I completely understand. I do hope the brand survives as it pushes all of the others to keep improving. I’ve driven several Speed UTVs and it’s definitely a great desert machine he just needs to get motor and trans figured out. Not small items but I think it will get there.

The reliability isn’t close to the big guys yet so the Pro R was the right choice.

The Pro R is a beast, we had actually planned on going with it, but we built our own toyhauler to the specs of the four-seat Speed El Jefe, and the Pro R was too long for the trailer I already built, so we went with the Turbo R since it's about 8 inches shorter.

My son-in-law is stationed at the Yuma Proving Grounds, so we have met them at Glamis a few times. My buddy owns Daddys Famous Foods at vendor row; if you need good eats, give him a try.

That's the silver lining to being station in Yuma is being able to ride...my dad was stationed and flew there in the late 70's/early 80's and there was nothing then.
I've eaten at Daddy's - good stuff!

Yea he had a lot of little issues which pushed him to the edge. I think he broke some control arms as well but that was most likely due to his insane driving lol.

My wife and I liked the shorter 1000cc utility model that has two jump seats under the bed. We could use the jump-seats to haul a couple grandkids once in a while, but otherwise have the shorter wheelbase for the two of us and the dog. I saw a green one of these with a full cab, heat/AC, and configured for a plow. Looked perfect for us (but probably cost $60K+, which seems nuts.)

Excellent feedback. I know the KRX is slow but I kinda don't mind that, keeps me mostly out of trouble. If it can eat the crappy washboard trails we have out here at 60 mph reasonably well I'm good with that.

they do look good with 35s.

Personally run a 2019 Rzr TRE .Its completely stock except necessary add-ons for street legal and a cheapo 12" lightbar up front.
I really want to trick it out but Rusty nail is the only trail i've ran that i had to turn around b/c of the obstacle. Bone stock its incredibly capable. Granted... i havent tried climbing that obstacle on the south end of the Steel bender loop. Made it down (puckering the whole time b/c its a 2 seater)

Love it. The KRX is a great rock crawler as well. If you ever wanted more power, I hear they are coming out with a supercharger version. Nick made a short video about it here.

2019 Polaris Ranger XP 1000. I've had this one for a few years now. It's been solid. I use it at the local 5,500 acre hunting club in Northeast Florida. This hole was covered in long grass. I had no idea it was that bad. My son had to pull me out with his Polaris Sportsman 570.

The machine was a beast. Weak now, given the new standards of 850-1000's. But honestly, given the price differences between the 450/500 and the 1000s, I'd be tempted to just get another 500, even if it's "low end". The used market up here is pretty horrible, much like used vehicles, used 4-wheelers and SBS are a couple grand cheaper than new. And new is half the price of a new car...

The sportsman 500 was by far the most reliable 4 wheeler I have ever owned. I got to be honest my 1000r can am is more fun to ride with more power, fuel injection and power steering, but I doubt it will be as rock solid in the long run as the sportsman 500, which in my opinion was the best utility 4 wheeler ever made.

The sportsman 500 was by far the most reliable 4 wheeler I have ever owned. I got to be honest my 1000r can am is more fun to ride with more power, fuel injection and power steering, but I doubt it will be as rock solid in the long run as the sportsman 500, which in my opinion was the best utility 4 wheeler ever made.

I had a women once who l always said was the best ever, but haven't had one since!!!

Picked up my base model CanAm X3 back in 2019. Doesn’t get used as much as I would like but it's still fun. Don't think I'll ever replace it. Had to go with a 64" model for Wisconsin trails but it looks good with 32s.

I have been off-roading my entire life, from two wheels to quads. Racing both then moved to a Rhino. The Rhino racing days were so fun because the car was the limiting factor, not your talent. It was even hard to total one. They just didn’t have the speed and power to really get yourself in trouble. Now these new machines, even the trail or work based one have some serious power and speed. I have had them all and even had a spot for a Speed that I bailed on. Love Robby’s vision, but execution was lacking. Currently still in a Canned Ham X3. Waiting to see what the new H2 Kawi is about. But probably move to the Maverick R. A pretty much stock performance side by side with 35” tires will out perform most jeeps as a whole. And a total newbie or wife can manage them. But for $50+K they are going for. You can build an old jeep. I have a built CJ-5 that sits by my house for the last 10 years because the SxS’s are so much more fun and universal. Dunes one weekend. Moab the next then take the family out for ice cream and a trail ride. Can’t beat them.
