We have a 2019 Polaris General. For us it fits the best. We use it on our property while being able to still have some fun. We typically go down south once a year to ride for a few days. This year we will be going to Tacket Creek.
Here’s a older picture of the General. Has different wheels and tires on it now.

I own a KRX 1000 and love it for what it was intended to do. I mainly do rock climbing or obstacles with minimal trail riding. The KRX was built exactly for that and not speed. All parts of the KRX suspension, knuckles, etc are beefier than the competitors, as there is a video out there showing this. My brother in law has the same KRX and we put them through their paces because of the terrain we chose to ride. If you have any intentions off roading and not trail riding you should be considering a KRX. Now if you are trail riding or racing around I would suggest a Polaris or other brands. I cannot speak for them but I do know they are faster and a little bit more nimble with turning. Just keep a toolbox handy....

My wife and I spend a lot of time riding UTVs/SXSs, and they are an absolute blast. Like our Tremors, they can get expensive with all the accessories, but that’s part of the fun. Prices skyrocketed during COVID, but lately, there have been better deals on both new and used models.

Back when we were raising our kids, we all rode quads. But as @Avslash mentioned, once you try a SXS, you’ll be hooked—they can tackle just about anything.

One of the best things about the off-road community is the people. SXS owners are no different—it’s a great group. We travel to most UTV events out West and just this past weekend attended the Watermelon Crawl in Green River, Utah. We went on two group rides, met some great people, and saw some incredible scenery.

We originally ordered a Speed UTV (for those unfamiliar, it’s a brand started by Robby Gordon). After long delays, we decided to pick up a Polaris Turbo R instead, and it’s been a blast.

If you’re interested in group rides or events, we started a forum called UTV Life Forum (www.utvlifeforum.com). It’s still a work in progress, but the goal is to create a space to find meetups, rides, and mods—similar to the Ford Tremor forum, though not as polished yet. We also have a calendar to track off-road events, and anyone can add new ones.

I also run another forum, Speed UTV Forum (www.speedutv.net), which is dedicated specifically to Speed brand machines. I know this brand has sparked a lot of discussion, so if you’re involved in it and need help, feel free to DM me—I’ll see what I can do.

Unloaded my JLUR recently and itching for something else to do lately. I've been looking at the Kawasaki KRX4, my coworkers have Can Am's and Polaris units with varying amounts of satisfaction.

Part of me also wants to just grab a cheap Gladiator, bob the bed and put a cheap lift on it and 40's and go to town. My JLUR handled pretty much anything I could throw at it with ease. I think the under powered 3.6l
was a blessing for me cuz I generally have a heavy foot. I guess I'm torn lol.

What are you guys hitting the trails
in besides your trucks?

Currently in a 24 pro r. It's got gobs of power and is super comfortable. I dune it in Glamis, ride in the desert in Mesa and take it north to Show Low/Pinetop on forest service roads. I came from an 18 xp turbo and it's such a massive upgrade, I love it...and more importantly the kiddo loves it so i always have a riding buddy.

Somewhere USA. We took a 7 month , 22,000 mile road trip from Florida to the western states. My Polaris General on top of Imogene Pass overlooking Telluride Co. It has Heat, Glass Windshield, Wipers, Stereo.

Like many others on here I am running a Can Am Defender. In Dec 2023, I bought an off brand side by side, and it spent 8 of the next 11 months in the shop. I won a lemon law case on it and the manufacturer bought it back. During my many trips to the service department while it was down, I asked 6 different side by side mechanics in 3 different repair shops what they would purchase, and 5 said "Cam Am" as their first choice. However, all said that Can Am, Polaris and Honda were good. Obviously you will want the model that fits your needs, but it is was an overwhelming choice of "Can Am" as the top brand by the mechanics. I have had the Defender out several times already, and it has performed flawless each time. Not surprisingly , when I asked the side by side sales team the same question, nearly all of them recommended something different than those three, and it most cases if was an off brand (Segway, C-Moto, etc). It was pretty obvious that they all recommended the brand that got them the best commision that week.

The Pro R is a beast, we had actually planned on going with it, but we built our own toyhauler to the specs of the four-seat Speed El Jefe, and the Pro R was too long for the trailer I already built, so we went with the Turbo R since it's about 8 inches shorter.

My son-in-law is stationed at the Yuma Proving Grounds, so we have met them at Glamis a few times. My buddy owns Daddys Famous Foods at vendor row; if you need good eats, give him a try.

I too was lured by the off brand "bang for your buck" value that it offered. I quickly learned that the 1000CC motor, windshield, doors, winch, etc that I was able to get at the same price as a base Cam Am HD7 with none of that was worthless when I was stranded out in the middle of nowhere with a broken machine.

Been driving a Can Am for the last 13 years. I’ve had a Defender HD10 for the last 7. They’ve been all over CO, NM, UT, ID, MT, WY, TX, and OK.

My buddy had a Speed UTV, waited a long time to get it but sold it and kept his Pro R instead.

I've got two can am outlander fowhillas that hardly get used and when they do they get used hard. Did nothing for maintenance in three years plus owning them. Both fuel pumps went out at the same time. Changed them out and they're ripping up the property once again. Love them and probably wouldn't buy a different brand just because of how well they've held up to our abuse.... and neglect

I've been riding a BMW R1200GS for almost 20 years. For a short time a couple years ago I rode a Husky 701... dropped a tooth in the front sprocket and the thig would power wheelie easily in third gear. That would have been my dream bike at 30, or even 40, but I sold it to reduce the chance of killing myself. My last two GSs, a 2008 and a 2018, have been the GSA model. I love the bikes. Easy to ride 500 mile days with a decent seat, and comfortable for two-up. Amazingly stable on single-track, but I'm getting too old to fall. Or maybe too old to get back up after a fall? Either way, I've been Jeeping more and riding less. Some of my buddies have moved to the UTV side and are loving it. Brother has a CanAm, but two buddies just bought Hondas -- no belts to wear/break, which is nice. Amazing suspension systems too.
