One of my tow hooks is a little rusty, so I would like to remove both and repaint. I have read that I need to remove the plastic trim piece in front of the hook, but anything else to get access to the bolts? I tried to search but did not find any solid info or videos. I see 8 bolts, 4 vertical and 4 horizontal. Thanks for any advice.

It is a bit tedious as there are a few support arms on the bumper to unbolt. It's been awhile since I pulled mine. A trick is to find save a grill guard or replacement bumper with install instructions. That's a simple cheat way of researching the project.

8 big bolts in the middle behind the plastic covers. 4 small ones, 2 each side for the wing plates that protect the back of the fog lights. Then you can access the tow hooks. The brackets that hold the bumper on are part of the tow hook. The towhooks are then held to the top of the frame horns with 4 bolts per side.

Amazon sells silicon covers for the tow loops. That's the route I went and was able to color match to the truck. if you use the loops once, the rust will come back. Easy to just pop off the silicone cover when needed and replace afterwards.

I have the same problem - the chrome on my 2022 tow hooks peeled off and they are totally rusty. Was not looking forward to pulling off my bumper to replace or paint them. This is a perfect solution (at least for now). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to treat the very rusty hooks before putting these covers on?

Thanks guys. I will look into the Amazon covers!

I had mine replaced under warranty after the first year. Both hooks’ chrome finish had peeled off and were rusting. They were never used.

When I got my truck I pulled mine off and put painted black ones on it. (Part of most of the chrome delete) Somewhere in my garage is the origanl pair. ha Sounds like you got it covered though on how. I dont recall it being to terrible
