Remote start non-functioning via Ford app

I tried to start mine this afternoon using app. It’s was just spinning and spinning, then I thought it started walked outside 10 or so minutes later and it was not running. Never really had an issue. Will try in the morning to see.

Does your app update things like mileage to empty and vehicle location regularly?

Have you scanned the truck to see if it is throwing dtc's from the TCU (Telematics Control Unit)?

Went through this a while back and ended up being a bricked TCU that Ford had to replace.

interesting. All the stats are working. DEF, Oil Life, etc.

Deleted app. Reinstalled app. No worky work. 🥴

Well damn. Lock/ unlock work?
If so, it’s like there is something in the truck holding it out. But every time mine has failed (truck or commuter box) it shows an error. Sometimes the “why” part- open hood, door, battery condition, etc.

Did you sign out, clear cache and force stop?
I deleted the app and all data associated with it. I’m not using the web. Is there a place on iOS to do that?

I know you have probably gone through all of the steps, but as a reminder, here is the process from Ford. Unfortunately, the troubleshooting trees always assume that everything is "working". Perhaps not. One thing that could be an issue is that too many attempts to start caused it to lock out, even after clearing it with the app update. Deleting the app and reinstalling seems like it should take care of that but perhaps, it's still stored. See the "Note:" below.

The fix is to start it and drive it to reset everything. (According to the T/S tree.)
This sort of thing isn't why I retired from this life, but it sure is a reminder of the good old days. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Why is my remote start not working in the Ford app?

Remote start can fail if there are certain vehicle conditions preventing it (e.g., open doors or the vehicle is already running). If you are unable to start your vehicle remotely, refer to the requirements and troubleshooting steps in this article.

Remote Start Requirements

If your remote start does not work, ensure the following:

  • All vehicle doors, trunk, hood, and tailgate are closed. The Ford app should alert you if one is ajar.
  • The engine is turned off when a remote start is requested.
  • The alarm horn is not sounding off.
  • Your vehicle is in Park (P) mode.
  • Remote start is enabled on your vehicle's instrument cluster. To check your settings:
    1. Ensure your vehicle is on, running, parked, and in a well-ventilated safe area.
    2. Use the directional arrows on your steering wheel to navigate to Settings and push OK.
    3. Scroll to Vehicle and push OK.
    4. Arrow to Remote Start and push OK.
    5. Scroll to System and push OK.
    6. Set Remote Start to On, which is represented by a checkmark.

Note: Instrument clusters are unique to the model of the vehicle. Refer to your Owner’s Manual for information specific to your vehicle.

Troubleshooting Remote Start

Once you have confirmed you meet the above requirements:

  1. Restart your device and attempt to remote start again.
  2. Ensure your vehicle is not in Deep Sleep mode.
Note: You may also receive an error if you attempt too many back-to-back remote start requests. Drive your vehicle to reset the remote start settings.

If your remote start commands fail after troubleshooting, contact Ford app support for additional assistance.
