Redesign of Super Duty's

I'm less worried about software - it can be fixed OTA. Mechanical stuff is harder.

Given that nothing was changed from '20 to '21, what was the point of waiting? Do manufacturers even update anything in the 2nd/3rd model years anymore? Usually not. Recalls seem to happen with no rhyme or reason, since part suppliers can and often do change mid-cycle.

Yes, they do. All car companies make dozens of changes to fix minor and major issues that are found in the first model year. You might get lucky with a first generation vehicle, but your chances of getting a great one goes way up in the second and third years. I bought the Gen 1 Raptor in its first model year because I had waited most of my adult life for a true offroad truck from a MFG and mine had no problems after 8.5 years. I waited for the second year in the Gen 2 Raptor because I really wanted a V8, but I also knew they had to shake thing out, like the dreaded noisy cam phasers and plastic oil pan on 2017s that leaked like crazy.

I waited for the second year of the Tremor which also was the second year of the 2020 S.D. redesign. I like the new front lights and grille much better than the 2017-2019 S.D., plus the Tremor Lariat Black is cleaner in my view. My 2021 measures higher than most 2020 Tremors, so I am not sure if anything changed on the suspension components, but I will be swapping them for Carli in a couple of weeks anyway.

My sales guy said the order banks for 2021 model year closes 3/14/2021 and the 2022 MY opens 3/15/2021 with production scheduling for 4/22/2021 and builds start 6/1/2021 for the 2022 MY.

Still he was not 100% sure if there would be any major changes. Sounds like the will not be, not until the 2021 MY which would go on sale spring 2022 my guess.

Is anyone looking forward to the redesign of the Super Duty? Assuming a similar interior to the 2021 F-150 would it be enough for you to want to trade-in for a newer Tremor? Have to assume the interiors of the 2021 F-150 will be incorporated into the Super Duty line-up at some point. The stereo upgrade (B&O unleashed) along with the larger screen, and some new tech are interesting to me. However, it does seem that some of the tech is moving towards subscription-based services (e.g. Connected navigation) and over the air updates which I guess will allow to stay more current, but will require on-going costs. Not sure what I think about that.

Not sure how much credit to give this link, since the picture they posted is of the 6.0 diesel

Too bad they have no idea what they are talking about. A 6 speed for the diesel? Wrong

That's entirely my point. In 2020 they changed a major component. I don't want to spend $80+ K on a new truck with a new untested unproven major part such as a transmission. For all I knew, the 2020 superduty tranny could be as much a pile of shit as a dodge transmission. If it turned out to be shit, I'm unharmed by sitting on the sidelines. If the new component is a winner as it now appears to be, and they don't make any other major changes for 2021 then I feel better jumping in in 2021.

I must have gotten lucky......I stopped by my dealer on Christmas Eve and said......"I'll take that one"....it was a 2021 F-350 :).......drove out a couple hours later
Sure rub it in. It is weird though because when I wasn’t looking I saw tremors on lots everywhere last year. Then I started looking in January and nobody has one. Well I see diesels everywhere but not the 7.3‘s

Bit of a trek for you, but there's this loaded out Lariat in Michigan - https://www.colefordlincoln.com/new/1FT8W3BN1LEE17923.htm

I could not get them to move on pricing at all. I'm not much of a negotiator, though.

Also note this is a 2020.

I didn't even know Tremor was a thing. I was going to get a typical Super Duty like the 2011 I had, take it home, add lift, wheels, etc., then I saw the Tremor......It had what I wanted to do....DONE! Glad I did.

I was under the impression that a Super Duty redesign would be a 2023 model year thing - is that not the case?

No one really knows except some internal Ford people, they will likely wait until the last minute to release that info.

My dealer is family owned. It’s a small dealership The sales manager is the son of the owner. He tried to get a 2021 King Ranch F250 Tremor. He couldn’t get it allocated. He has to get a 22’. They are starting production on 22’s in June. He said there may be (he was hoping) a new screen design. But overall design will not be 22’ model year. For those who are having a hard time getting yours built. It may not be a bad ending if you have to wait till August to have a 22’ built. I feel your pain. 149 days it took me from putting my order in till delivery. I’m the exception though. Others got there’s in 11 weeks. LUCKY DOGS. Mine was worth the wait.

Ha! that one's been sitting there quite a while. I remember finding that last fall. I guess the dealer likes making the payments on a truck that has been sitting there for 5 months.

IF this is accurate, this sounds too early to be a redesign. MAYBE if the SD is only getting cosmetic updates, but hopefully that's not the case.

the 2021s have been out for months now what are you worried about? The 2020s over a year. Expect nothing different in 2022

The most likely case is that they are going to do an extended run of 2022 vehicles into a 2023 redesign.

Yep, seems they are selling them as fast as they can make them. I'd think promoting new tech would stunt those sales and they'd want to avoid a 6 month sales gap.
