Redesign of Super Duty's

i am going to wait until 2023 ... for the new super duty but also the new google system they will come out will and make since to make it in 2023
Yeah, maybe a 2021 Tremor will be rare enough I can get a premium trade in value for it. I mean they only built them for like 5 months based on current projections of MY 22 builds.

yea counting on the same with a 2020 tremor with blue jean

When I placed my order back in late December I was told it was their last order they can place for the 2021 model year. My Ford contact is a family member so the dealer was corrected based off what I was told. He said it was the earliest cut off in his 30 plus years in the industry and said he thought they might be re-tooling for a new interior but that was ONLY speculation on his point at that time. My truck is scheduled to arrive sometime in March with a production date of 2/12. I didn't want to wait to see if there was a change. The wait has been killing me as it is!
Could have been last allocation

12 listed at Fairway Ford in eastern Ohio. They're loaded out Lariats with everything but the winch and heated steering wheel.

All diesels too. Almost looks like they’re advertising the same 2 trucks in several ads ????. Wondering why they only have so many and only in 2 color options

I had placed my order in DEC but never got movement on it and was considering cancelling. Mid January I emailed another dealer in the area and he told me he could place an order but I have to do it asap as they're about to close the 2021 order bank.

Ended up cancelling my order when I found a 99+% match on yet another local dealer's lot so I just ran out and bought it.

Is anyone looking forward to the redesign of the Super Duty? Assuming a similar interior to the 2021 F-150 would it be enough for you to want to trade-in for a newer Tremor? Have to assume the interiors of the 2021 F-150 will be incorporated into the Super Duty line-up at some point. The stereo upgrade (B&O unleashed) along with the larger screen, and some new tech are interesting to me. However, it does seem that some of the tech is moving towards subscription-based services (e.g. Connected navigation) and over the air updates which I guess will allow to stay more current, but will require on-going costs. Not sure what I think about that.
Hoping the redesign is worth it. It seems i always tend to get a new vehicle at the end of its design cycle. I have a 2021 7.3L Tremor but the only thing i did to it was put airbags for towing. I am holding off on the lights, stabilizers, wheels, tires, etc and see if the new design it worth it. The small cartoon screen, navigation and sync3...technology in general is ridiculous for the amount of money we spend on these trucks. I love everything else about the truck though. I can't believe i am ranting about a super duty trunk not having Cadillac car amenities.....lol.

No.

I was looking forward to the redesign of the F-150. I just don't like it. I was a borderline F-150/F-250 guy based on needs and the redesign sealed the deal to not go F-150. I was already leaning F-250 because of mechanical capability too. The new F-150 looks like they put the truck in a giant press and squashed it to make it shorter and flatter. I'm not talking about actual measurements, just appearance.

I think Ford has a real winner with the current Super Duty design. Go ahead and mess with the interior but if the exterior redesign follows the F-150 they'll go backwards.

hard pass on any redesign for me on any vehicle in the first year of the new gen. I'm not paying a company to be their beta tester.

I broke this rule once, with my ducati, and got a lemon.

I like my truck just fine and if I decide I can't live without a big fancy screen I'll just get the LinksWell T Style head unit.

Not interested in a redesign. I'm not a big fan of tech in my truck. I like the safety features, but big screens and connectivity isn't my thing. I like knobs and buttons. I actually finally pulled the trigger on a Super Duty because I knew where the F150 was going when my lease expired and figured the Super Duty wouldn't be far behind. Is the inside of my Tremor dated looking? Sure. Do I like its simplicity? Hell yeah. I also find the tech in vehicles to be pretty weak. Similar to the tech in "smart" TVs. If what powered vehicle tech was similar to a PS4 or PS5 with GBs of expansion, I might feel differently.

Great comparison. I never use the crap on my tv. I use my firestick or PS5.

I gotta think this way of thinking is somewhat archaic anymore. With the advancements in manufacturing, tolerances, CAD, etc., you just don't see major issues with first-model-year vehicles anymore. Even though the sheet metal (aluminum) looks new, the underlying tech is basically the same with minor changes. Sure, issues happen, but I'm not convinced it's due to the curse of the first model year. Shit just happens sometimes.

Technically the 2020 SD had a new engine and transmission, but there are very few issues. 2021 didn't see any mechanical changes either, so is it still effectively a first-model-year still?

Disagree entirely. It's just shifted from mechanical issues to software stuff mostly. But the first year of a new engine or transmission would scare me away. To each his own though.

Part of why I waited for 2021 is because I wanted to see what happened with 2020 transmissions. So no, the 2021 is not still a first model year.

We bought an '18 Volvo XC60 in its new version. Its been flawless mechanically and software-wise with the exception of the rear window washer. I guess that's too much to expect? :ROFLMAO:

I'm less worried about software - it can be fixed OTA. Mechanical stuff is harder.

Given that nothing was changed from '20 to '21, what was the point of waiting? Do manufacturers even update anything in the 2nd/3rd model years anymore? Usually not. Recalls seem to happen with no rhyme or reason, since part suppliers can and often do change mid-cycle.

The beauty of CAD is that the redesign is easy, the nightmare is making sure that the production guys make the right changes, logistics guys get the right part numbers, and the production guys understand the differences. Other wise you get the transmissions with the untempered damper plate(our trucks), wrong head gasket on your focus RS (Engine go Boom Boom) or the wrong technique is used ( single associate assigned to a specific production line working between the production dates specified (12/14/2020 – 12/21/2020) was found to be using an improper torque wrench technique. )
