Onboard Air - Seek Advice Best Way to Attach Air Hose to Fitting Under Vehicle - My Professionally Installed hose blew off

+1 for a stainless leader.

My tank is above the spare and compressor is behind the rear seat so I used a very long stainless leader i found on Amazon and added a check valve on the tank side. My tank has held over 100psi for months now. I’m on the east side in Issaquah and could always help you install it, piece of cake!
Thanks "Jays0n". I might take you up on an installation tutorial sometime. I know it should be easy to do especially since the pump and tank are installed...the issue is buying the right parts..

I don't live far from you. I'm near exit 13 off of I-90. I get into Issaquah constantly, of course.

I'm not experienced with assembling pressurized gas fittings (I've done it a little and as a result I know it can become a bit of a PITA getting the correct components in the correct size and threading...). And Issy Home Depot and Issy Lowes generally don't have the right parts or knowledge to help with that. Maybe McClendon Hardware would have parts and service..but yeah, Amazon would be easier if I knew what to buy.

Accordingly, I'm a bit lost in terms of what fittings I need to replace or augment the components of the system downstream from the tank when I switch to a stainless steel leader.

For instance, when attaching the stainless leader to my air hose coupler, would I purchase a new coupler with a different style of threading to mate with the stainless steel leader (are those even available?), or would I add an adapter to the existing coupler (but I'd strongly prefer to avoid additional failure points).

Ditto at the tank outlet end, obviously I'd need to determine the manufacturer and verify the thread diameter and type. Maybe those metrics are fairly "standard" ? Or I guess, just remove what is currently installed in the outlet and measure that...

I know these are extremely elementary questions, but I know just enough about propane and compressor connections to know that there are a myriad of types and options, not to mention higher quality manufacturers with better fit and sealing potential and lower quality manufacturers.

So similar concept but more basic, growing up o the ranch we would use "bailing wire" o everything. (Light, malleable, ductile steel wire coated in almost a black film) and wrap it around a few times, the take a pair of needle nose pliers and twist it at the junction until it was very tight. When I rockcrawled a lot, I always kept a roll in my toolbox. My best clamp repair was replacing a broken intercooler clamp on a tuned 6.0 PSD towing a 15klb trailer through the mountains for 250 miles. Definitely not the prettiest solution but was a lot better than abandoning the tow rig and driving my rock crawler home. It held until Ford came up with replacement/recall/warranty parts (don't recall, it was 20 years ago.)

I carry a rebar tie wire roll b/c i havent been able ot get any scrap baling wire. Its MUCH lighter and will break easily if bent enough but... it works in a pinch and is super duper handy when needing something to suspend a part for a quick rattle can job.

My vote would be stainless lines. We typically run ARB branded lines because we use their compressors, tanks, etc.

I would then terminate with this slick new part from SDHQ.

Forum member @trofeo160 Also, makes and sells a nice air chuck that looks factory utilizing the same plug cover as the trailer connection. (new ones dont have the 7-way on the cover)
