Did the C2 6x9 fit the front door without any modifications? Any particular reason you went C1 6 1/2 for the rear door vs the C2? Just curious.

I went out and listened to the 2 different speakers this week (you got me motivated with this post) and I’m leaning towards the C2. I just don’t know if I want to add an amp at the same time or try them running from the OEM head unit if that’s possible

I’ll say from personal experience of being in car audio for so many of my younger years, if I had to try and save some money on a project it was the rear speakers. Typically you aren’t asking those speakers to provide much

I went with the C1 in the back to save a little money, I’ve just always did that in the past. I figured I wouldn’t really notice the difference. I did not have to do any modifications to make the 6x9 work other than buy the speaker adapters, which you have to do the back speakers as well. I rode around with my truck tore apart for several weeks. The first thing I did was replace all the speakers. It did make a difference from the cheap factory speakers. But amplifying them makes all the difference in the world. Nice clean power! I say try replacing the speakers first and if you’re not satisfied then amplify them.

Assume you didn’t have the BO system?

This is the first time I have tried JL anything, I’ve always bought Alpine door speakers and tweeters in the past. I am highly impressed with the JL line. But I will say bypassing the radio and using an amplifier to power the door speakers will make the world of difference! Also if you plan on keeping your factory head unit I would invest in a line out converter like a LC7i for adjusting gains and fine tuning. My system is 💯 plug and play I did not do any splicing for a signal for my amps I had purchased a loopback harness to plug into my factory head unit and ran the wires all the way to my amps.
For door speakers my favorite ever are infinity kappa perfects. Best sound I’ve ever heard. And JL sub always. 👍🏽
