Thanks ahead to all those that replied to help.

I currently own a F150 towing a travel trailer but will need to upgrade to a Superduty and eventually buy a 5th wheel.

The 5th wheel I'm looking at has:
Weight:12660 lbs
GVWR:14995 lbs
Dry weight:12,560
Hitch weight:2,550 lbs.

I am looking at 2018-2022 F250's and F350's. I like the Tremor package and wondering if I will be fine with a F250 tremor. I assume diesel will be way to go. I would have my wife and 2 dogs with a cat for cargo, lol!

Just wondering some help as numbers of GVWR, curb weight, etc are making my head go crazy and would love some feedback with experienced people. I am trying not to spend over 80K and considering used as I have found some decent F350's for $53-55k, Any and all feedback would help! love the Tremor look! Here is my current truck!

Thanks again,
Dr. G

250 and 350 tremors are the same truck, different badge and rating. So there is no difference in capability. For non Tremor the capability is slightly different between 250 and 350, but a 250 can be modified to be nearly as capable as a 350 relatively easily. If you want to stay within the payload rating sticker then either way you are probably looking at a 350, but you might be able to sneak in under the rating with a 250 but will take some effort with weight management and configuration of the truck. For on-road towing the non Tremor will likely behave better, but a Tremor will probably do the job safely. Just my 2 cents

Thanks! all good info to know, i never fully understood the difference besides just towing capabilities, seems like the F350 would be best especially if i will be packing it as I full time RV!

If you're not worried about the sticker rating then the 250 Tremor can be a good option. But yeah, if you want to stay under the sticker then you're looking at a gasser or a 350. Personally I'd go straight to a 450 if I wanted a diesel to pull a big 5er

Thanks for everyones help, I was kinda thinking the 350 was the way to go but this is what i needed to hear... Tremor worth it?? lol knowing mostly towing on roads but of course some gravel/dirt roads to as ill be going to state parks, etc.

I probably did not need the tremor but loved the way it looked. I do hunt, fish and pull a 5th wheel but a standard truck works fine. But, I what the heck, go for it! Ha ha.

Even with tremor package and diesel? Not sure if that helps payload. thanks for your help Ryan. Lol I'm Ryan too
yes sir thats what i have! the truck is more then capable of hauling it its just on you if you want to be under the sticker or not. i would do the 350 for the extra little bit of cost. if i had known what i do now before ordering my tremor i would of got the 350 for sure.

don't worry to much about the 250/ 350 you probably save a few bucks on your license plate every year. My 350 plate went up last year. They are the same minus the sticker and doubtful you would get pulled over and weighed.

Don't think you need tremor for this personally. I liked the look of the tremor but was planning on the 7.3 and didn't want the loss of economy with the larger tires and felt I didn't need the 4.3rear because that was also a loss of economy when unloaded on western highways (75-85mph speed limits). I ordered a F350 7.3L with the 3.73 rear end and black appearance package (4x4 with skid plates, 34" all terrain tires). I can swap running boards for more clearance if desired. But if the right deal was in front of me I wouldn't turn down a tremor.

With the diesel some of those fuel economy decisions might be less of an factor.

These days with the superduty it seems like its mainly the sticker rating and maybe different springs, say maybe because some F250 have the same springs as F350 (tremor being an example). So its a matter of what its legally capable of doing vs what its practically capable of doing, knowing all that now just get a 350 and you don't have to worry about legal stuff with a heavy pin weight.

As has been mentioned, payload is going to be what you need to watch here.

Payload on a loaded Tremor F350 6.7 Lariat is going to be around 3,300 lbs leaving you a solid 800lbs of additional payload for passengers and stuff in the truck. Depending on how you travel, that may or may not be plenty.

Payload on a loaded Tremor F350 7.3 gas Lariat is going to be nearly 4k lbs -- that would give you a lot more breathing room, the engine is perfectly capable of the tow. In my personal opinion, though, the diesel is a much better driving experience and though I do not have my truck yet -- I'd wager that experience is even better when towing.

Now, as you go from Lariat to King Ranch to Platinum -- you'll lose some payload. How much you loose depends on features -- if you search around the forums here enough you can probably find someone with the same features you want who has posted a payload sticker -- or at least close enough to give you an idea.

Another thing to research is *actual* pin weight for features you order. Different RV manufacturers do different things, but for the most part these companies give dry pin weight. That 2,550 could easily be 3000 after you put propane and a generator in the camper.

Almost same setup as PapaRaptor with 5er. Pin weight about 3200. I have the 350 Tremor with 7.3 and pulls great. This is my second tremor Larait 7.3 350 and both had payload b/w 3750-3780. Woulid get 350 for sure, engine up to you depending on payload needs. Good luck!

I would also get the 350 if you can find one - diesel brake is a nice feature for towing - the power and mileage gain goes without saying, but comes at a cost.

I have a 2022 F350 diesel - only towing 10k toybox with 1,500 lb of tongue weight. Nice to have more truck than you need.

My truck has pretty much every option except assisted steering. It had to be weight to be registered and it weighted 7,996 with about 10 gallons of fuel in it. I have the glass sunroof - if I knew how big it was before I ordered, I would have left it off. It weighs over 200lbs. So that is high center of gravity weight and lost payload for something I rarely use!

GLWD - you will love the Tremor!

Here is my payload sticker.

Check out ford.com for towing spec. I have a 22 f350 tremor with 7.3 gas, I choose gas because I don't tow my 5th wheel often and it saved me $10k. My F30 Tremor can tow up to a 20k pound 5th wheel as it sets. I have a 2021 41' Keystone Montana, I think max weight loaded is 16k and change. I would not change a thing, I love it as it is. Ordered 08/12/21 got it 12/31/21 paid $70k after $2000 coupon.

I have a 2022 F250 Diesel 6.7L Tremor. Just bought a 43' fifth wheel GVWR 16,200 lbs hitch weight 2540 lbs. The reps at Camping World did the calculations and said no problem with my truck. They say this model trailer keeps me under stickered payload. I just wanted to hear experiences like yours with similar truck and trailer. Did you have to get airbags or modify anything?
