Need advice..on towing. Trying to get my ducks in order.

The 6.7 diesel will have the 3" hitch and the gassers will have the 2.5" hitch.

Ok, thanks! I have only seen diesels on dealer lots, so I thought they all had the larger hitch.

One more reason to like the diesels!

I am pretty sure all of the Tremors (F250 and F350) come with the 3” hitch and a 2 1/2” insert to fit the smaller shank. The leaf pack, rear differential and larger Class V hitch are the same across the Tremor packages.
My opening is only 2 1/2. Not 3’ I check it with a tape measure.

Thanks for the information. I have the Godzilla engine. So only the diesel gets the 3”. That sucks.

Mine has the 2.5” hitch, 7.3L engine and the 3/4” shackles w/ the 7/8” pin fit on my hitch. Weird....

Yea, I just couldn't get my to fix. I order another set. Will try again. If it doesn't work w/3/4. I'll get the 5/8. Thanks

Update on my towing set up.

I'm renting a travel trailer for the holiday season. Its a 2018 Keystone RV outback 250Urs. 28 ft in length
  • Gross weight - 7,585.0 lbs
  • Dry weight - 5,225.0 lbs
  • Cargo weight - 2,360.0 lbs
, My questions is "what tire pressure should i been running in the rear for best performance?"

i have one because of the military driving heavy trucks already .... but i knew i was going to need it because
Anyone getting a cdl license? The 350 is too heavy..

maryland .... which if your truck is longer then 55 ft you need cdl.... which is what hurts me the most and why i need it .... becuase i am towing 2 jeeps XJ which are 30 ft with the tremor at 23 ft .... already at 53 ft .... and i need a trailer that longer then 30 ft trailer need a 35 foot or longer because need to bring parts as well..... i will be under the 26000 lbs ... as the XJs are 4.5k each so 9k lbs plus 8k lb truck ... and the trailer is 5k to 6k lbs ... so i am around 22k to 23k

That is a loaded question if you are not in commerce you may not need one. For interstate commerce fed rules apply in the US, a Clas A is required when GCWR breaks 26,000 lbs. For example those of us who have the non derated gas Tremors if the GVWR of the trailer breaks 14,700 on interstate commerce a class A is needed, 14,500 for the non derated diesels. Unfortunately the fed rules doesn’t go by actual weight if a GVWR is available since rules calls for the greater of GVW or GVWR/GCWR listed on the federal compliance sticker. Ford is not listing GCWR on the sticker so the sum of GVWR of the truck and GVWR of the trailer is the GCWR. There are exemptions for personal RV use, but with that said states are allowed to make stricter rules than the fed so still could need some sort of special license depending on your states rules. It is best to check your states rules to see if you need one. I only am using for personal use and my state doesn’t have stricter than fed rules so won’t be getting a CDL.

what's wrong with using a regular hook with the locking clasp?

In some cases, the regular locking clasps do not fit on the much thicker area the SD provides. I guess they figure if you are buying the big truck, you will only tow really big trailers with larger chain clasps...

Ah. I usually wrap them though and back to the chain if they are too small since small chains means small trailer usually so whatever and theres some that seem like they don't fit but there's a certain angle to slide em in on and give a twist and they all seem to go. I got tired of the D rings making noise over bumps and my truck sounding like it was rattling apart
