My 7.3 is Cooked - Lifters

The sky was falling when I had my old 3v 5.4, too. 13+ years and not a single issue with that engine. I’m not worried about it.

Yes, 4 guys. OP has 2020. My point exactly. Are lifter failures trending on 2026 7.3Ls? Should we still be concerned in 2027? I think not.
I mean, who knows. I doubt there too many 2026 trucks with the miles required to have an issue. The CP4 is supposed to be fixed in the newer model 6.7’s as well, but I’m definitely not taking Fords word for it. They don’t have the track record of honestly for that.

So Ram went to the CP8 on the latest Cummins which sounded good and in fairness we haven’t had a fuel pump failure. However we have had lifters replaced on four engines, two engines are in for complete replacement, all of our trucks have had multiple DEF failures and now we blew our first rear end. In under 25k miles/1 year.

Don’t trust anyone but so far Ram has warrantied stuff and Ford/GM wouldn’t.

My 2019 Ram started making lifter noise at about 40k miles. Sold that bitch to Carmax immediately.
