How much transmission fluid ???

Correct. I've changed out the Tranny fluid twice.

Did a drain-n-fill the first time (~8qts) and a vb drop to install the sonax solenoid retainers (~10qts)
Sweet, thank you! I hope to have time to go by the dealer today and get the gasket and fluids.
I still have all the parts for this sitting in my basement...
PPE 5qt Pan
15 QT Motorcraft ULV
OEM gasket
OEM Filter
Sonnax Clips
Both VB Seals
VB mid-Plate
Vevor Trans Fluid Pump (10L)

Now to actually find the time to do it...
I hear ya. Got some shiny bits on the shelf myself that I have not had time to install yet.

Where can I get the run down on why one may want to add/change these out. Is this preventative or addressing some issue? I have not read anything about these and since I will be switching out the pan and filter, if there is something else I can tinker with in there, I would like to know about it. I read a little about the VB swap but not ready to make that leap yet.

The gasket at my dealer was over $60. I felt like I had to take a rape shower when I got home.

I reused the stock gasket, works fine. When I put the PPE pan on a year later I used the PPE paper gasket. Also works fine. No real noticeable difference with trans temps other than a slightly longer time to warm up.

Wow! I think I paid $52. Still a little high for a rubber band, but I hate to jump over a dollar to save a nickel.

I've only Sonnax talk about the problem and then others repeat the info. I'm not sure i've seen anywhere else mention it as being an actual issue with the clips.
I did it b/c the only way to drain a stock pan is to drop it.

As my buddy and i call it, the MAW's add up (might as wells). I didnt mess with the VB plate. Unless your doing a shift kit, theres no reason to. The VB seals are simply preventive b/c they are like 35-40$ total and if you;re already dropping the vb, it doesnt make sense to NOT replace them.

Thats about all i can tell you. If you decide to do the sonnax, check out my build thread b/c I somehow manage to maximize the amount of experience I was getting out of the whole ordeal. My info might help prevent you from having to gain as much ;)

I like and appreciate videos like the one above but I always wonder when it comes to oils, fluids, and additives package different manufacturers use is……what is really necessary vs needed. At what point is there a case of diminishing returns with various additives being used. I don’t know the answer and for me it is more of changing fluids more often to keep it “clean” rather than trying to find “the best” fluid because that is a really subjective opinion.
I'm debating going with amsoil because I have a sneaking suspicion it is better and just in case I forget to ever change it again it may buy me a few thousand extra miles. At this rate it will be 2042 before I hit 100K.

Just did a complete flush on my 2022 6.7, used the original factory gasket, used over 20 quarts to complete flush of complete system until I saw good ATF coming out. Even flushed the small cooler in-front of the pan. Got all the old out of the torgue converter. This was my first over due change @ 125,500. I haven't had any issues since and acts as it did prior to change, boy did it smell and look bad. Used the same factory pan to put back on. Waiting on the Banks pan and reviews for next one. I bought the Sonnax Clips but will wait for the next oil and pan upgrade.

If anyone is interested Rock Auto has Mercon ULV 5qt $39.79 right now. It wasn't available yesterday and many other places that did have it were $52+

Ho Lee Chit. I’ve gotta get some then. Still have a pan sitting in the shelf.

RA site isn’t working correctly. It won’t let me go to my cart. Bummer. What a pain in the ass.

I'm in the same boat. I want to get this pan on but on the other hand I'm at 28K so I feel like I could still wait quite a bit, and I know this is going to be a real messy PIA

It will be messy. Lol. I'm not even at 10k yet, but I like to do the first filter change around there.
RA site is hosed. I’ll probably just swing by the dealer. It’s only a dollar or so difference.
