@Godzilla/Tremornator travel & antics

weeeeelll?????
no promises but in sittin in the ford dealership right now to see what they say my 2020 with a brand new motor & fresh built transmission is worth. looking at probably having to order what i want. all the lariat deluxe models have the sunroofs.

just told me they can't figure it until the truck is here

🐎💩
🤣😂🤣😂🤣

so is it just me?????

has anyone truly dealt with buying a car & trading in a car (truck) and feel good about it.

not, do you like the truck or not but the dealing with the process & a$$hats.

don't mean to step on anyones toes here but DAMNIT!!!!!!!

can anyone explain how this it matters??

why they can't (won't) give me a value of my truck without having the vehicle i will be trading it in for???

pure deception & dishonesty????
or is there a valid reason i can't get my head around.

2nd
how can a vehicle with a brand new dealer documented motor & transmission, dealer installed, not have added value over another vehicle the same year model????

somebody help me understand?
please!!!!!

Fuggin dealers... I used to be able to walk into Gus Johnson tell them what I wanted or what I saw that I was interested in and they would work it for me. No back and forth bullshit on trade value or price of new vehicle, just the absolute best numbers. Hell, I bought an 04 Wrangler from them, traded it back in 2 years later and they gave me more than I paid them for it. When I bought my 2020 F350, they gave me what I had paid them for my F150 and still knocked over $5k off the new rig. Now, trying to get Corwin to work on prices, different story, but also different market. But, I've gotten better deals on the 2 other new Fords that were bought at other dealerships because Corwin wasn't willing to work.

Buy over the internet. I won’t set foot in a dealership until the numbers are worked. Internet sales manager is the easiest to deal with. I’ve worked a lot of deals over text and just shown up to sign the papers. In and out in 30 minutes.

That's how the last two were bought, even drove across state because local dealer wanted to charge almost $1500 to transfer rig, shit deal on trade value and swore that the other dealer was going to change everything once we showed up. Nope, fair trade offer just from pictures, great deal on rig and back out of dealer within 45 minutes of showing up.

I haven’t had the best experiences at ford either. Similar stories and typical BS everyone has heard and dealt with before.

A little off topic, but our experience buying a Lexus recently couldn’t have been easier. Ford should take notes. I called the same sales guy my parents dealt with when they bought theirs 2 years ago. Keep in mind this is about 3 months ago. I text him pictures of my wife’s old palisade and he sends me a quote of 24k 10 minutes later. This was above trade in value and once we got the sales tax credit it basically worked out to be the high private party book value (around 26,500 total). I was a little skeptical, so we drove down, they looked it over and said yep, 24k. So we put a deposit down for her new car. Knowing it would take a couple months to arrive and this is my wife’s daily I asked about added mileage and a lower trade value once it comes time to actually trade it in. He said, don’t worry, we will be fair with you. Almost 3 months later, we go back in to get the new car and the palisade has 6k more miles. He looked at us and said, all good, we will honor the original amount. I was shocked. Well done Lexus!

We were fortunate to be able to use x-plan for my truck. Makes it really easy when the price is fixed.

@TX03RUBI 's advice is spot on unless you have a good relationship with someone at a dealership. Unfortunately, the sales team at the dealer I bought from turned over and the AGM over sales who is no longer there owed me a deal on a car.

Good news is that I'm seeing Tremors sitting on lots of even small dealers around here so hopefully you'll find one that wants to make a deal. As we get to the end of the month and end of the quarter, there may be some motivation from them to move inventory.

What I believe they are trying to do is maximize what you're willing to pay by working the numbers between the trade and the new vehicle to meet a monthly payment that you'd accept.

Also, if they make a deal with you, they've got to get the truck and get it ready for sale or auction and can't wait for service to finish any repairs. That's likely why they won't quote the trade-in value until they have it in the condition where it's ready for trade and can then appraise it. Silly when you think about it as they can appraise it back in the service bay, but sales and service run as almost completely different businesses.

There's still the Finance dept's games on who they use for lending, additional products and warranties. Keep in mind the Finance guy is also a commissioned sales person, just getting paid on a different set of products then the vehicle itself. If you pay "cash" you really take the wind out of their sales. I paid cash for my truck (in reality it was financed elsewhere and I just brought in a cashier's check for the amount owed with tax and license) so when they tried to sell me stuff I just said no, I have a check. They even tried to convince me to finance a portion of it for 6 months through their preferred lender.

new long block
rebuilt transmission

crazy the leftover nuts and bolts lying around under the hood when they supposedly double & triple checked everything.

it did run very quiet & shift smooth getting home

all warranty but they did some funny business. they say it was all said & done $12,275.44 total (parts & labor)

???????
fishy to me
everything about dealerships
sales / service / whatever
fishy!!!!!!!

anyway
is what it is
can't decide
keep it
go trade for a new one
????????

paid off july next year
get a new one & have payments for 3yrs longer
???????
whata ya do?
how da ya act?

if it was me I’d be driving it a bit longer!

That’s funny they only have it for $12K invoice. I had my long block replaced about 18 months ago at the dealer under warranty, and its invoice alone was 13K with no transmission rebuild. I’m curious if it’s a pricing discrepancy, or if there’s really that much difference between dealers.

Wait. They covered it under warranty AND charged you $12k?
On the warranty papers they just totaled up parts and labor showing the total, but then zero out the amount owed. At least that’s been the case on all my warranty work from Ford, GM, and Toyota over the last decade.

actually my papers showed all warranty. only filters & deductible

had to ask for a detailed copy to get anything showing repair costs.

there's no way that would have been my price without waranty.

to much funny business!!!!!
