Factory power running boards.

Each person parks differently, and I avoid parking in congested lots as much as I can.

So, it's entirely up to you how you want to manage your power steps. Before I close the door, I leave my foot on the step, and hold it for 2 seconds.

Also, there may be a few people who don't know that's an option.

Would be cool if the steps stayed down upon parking.
Forscan would be sweet. I don't think it's that granular :(

I have wondered about running the main power wire through an upfitter switch. When they are deployed or out, kill power and they will stay down. This would work while in motion or parked (if it could even work at all). Could be helpful for gravel road protection and other scenarios. Turn the upfitter back on and they would run just like normal. Let me know if you think this would be possible @BroncoHooves.

Yep, you could interrupt the OEM power wire with an upfitter for sure.

where is the current fuse located for the boards? Which upfitter would be best to switch it through? I havenโ€™t minimal knowledge of these other than where the wires are terminated in the engine bay.

Would be a great mod maybe can be done with ford arscan?

Unfortunately it looks like Ford reduced the ampacity of the upfitters compared to another photo I've seen on this forum. The power running boards are a 30 amp circuit. Upfitters max out at 15 amps indicated by my current owner's manual. I'd have to look under the hood to see if it's a misprint.

Well those SOBโ€™s. Come on Ford. I thought some were rated higher as well. I guess this idea was dead before it started.

It must definitely is. I saw it discussed in other forums, that 2022 manual up fitter amperage is not accurate. It still is what it was for 2020.

Thatโ€™s a relief. Poor manual writing though.

Agree. So back in business. Basically can run either 1,2,3 or 4?

Fixed boards are great for keeping carefully placed shopping carts away from your rig as well as door dings from idiots who purposefully want to park next to you when you go out of your way to be in the back 40 lot.
Exactly why I purchased a set of fixed boards, waiting for new wheels and tires to come in before I get rid of my power boards in the off chance I cant get my fat ass in the truck hahah. The power boards do drop down considerably more, but I am willing to give up the convenience for the protection.

Should I replace the 40a fuse for a 30a?
Good idea! But, the power should still be flowing through the 30 amp one on circuit 59 still. The upfitter will be in series is all.

I literally said that. You fail to mention that the cost (which is about $4000-5000 to do this is far more than the cost of the AMP boards at $2300-2800
I just put amp power steps on my 22 and it was less than 1700 bux.
Which amp steps are 2800 bux?

If you mean the overhead ultrasonic sensors, no, it does not stay persistent. I unplugged them so I can just jump out of the truck and not be bothered with a prompt.

Have you tried changing this to Perimeter sensing and unchecked ask on exit?

Yep!, but if there was an OTA module update I wasn't aware of, I will definitely look into it again! :D
Seems weird that it would revert back. Maybe I'll change mind and see if it stays. Did yours stay for any amount of time or just next start up it was back to factory/all sensors.

Ah, that was probably it, it would change back on the next start up. But, I will check in the morning unless you do before me.
