F350 5th wheel towing

Just towed our 12k lb 5th wheel with my f250 Tremor. Came from a Duramax so I had to lift the trailer 4" for 6" of bed rail clearance and perfectly level. I tow using the Anderson Ultimate Hitch that installs over the gooseneck ball. I've tried everything over the years and I like the Anderson hitch the most.

2nd day owning the truck I installed the b&w turnover ball and spray lined the bed and fender wells. View attachment 1463
Did you have to flip the axles on your 5th wheel to achieve the extra height? Or did they leave the axles where they were with a "spacer"? Wondering as I am picking up a new 5th wheel next week with my Tremor that looks exactly like yours. The dealer seemed to think they could make the adjustments at the pin box. I would be "OK" with a slight angle to the 5th wheel stance if possible. I have the BW turnover with the Andersen Ultimate as well towing my current old HR Presidential (11K) and works great. Let me know. Thanks. Tim

Forgot to get a picture hooked up lol. Didn't pay attention to drop or spacing, but towed great. I'll get a pic on level ground when I pull this boy out of here.

Did you have to add an extra step to the entryway with the extra height on the 5th wheel?

went with the anderson hitch this time around...can turn about 85 degres on level ground...air bags are on the way..

this is with tool box full and 45 gal diesel in the bed. (about 320 lbs of diesel and 200 lbs of tools and tool box)...im a lil over on the axle weight, but it will lighten up over 500 lbs with the rzr in the back...this pic the garage is empty. .squats the rear 3.5 inches..

trailer is 17,000View attachment 1901View attachment 1902
Did you opt for the new Andersen with the raised ball height? I have been running an Andersen hitch for many years now and this new truck with higher bed rails is a little concerning

I’ve got the taller model and run it in the lowest setting with 7-8 inches of bed rail clearance. From what I’ve been told this is the equivalent to the highest setting on the regular height models. I think you should be good.

I did a short tow with the Tremor a couple days ago and it works fine. I had MORryde add their IS suspension and disc brakes to my new 5th wheel before it was shipped to me. I had them raise the 5th wheel 2" because of the extra height of the Tremor. I dropped my hitch height 1". After those changes, I measured the height of the 5th wheel at 13' 5.5". Sits pretty level. The truck dropped 2" when I attached the 5th wheel.

Mind if I ask what hitch you’ve got? This picture looks just like my tremor and the new solitude we just bought. I still need to get a hitch though. I’m new to fifth wheel and heard short beds need a slide. They seem pretty heavy and permanent. Was looking at something like the Andersen gooseneck like. I’m hoping to keep the bed fully useable when not towing.
What did you go with?

5 th wheel is all set up. Long story short my 3500HD Chevy was lower to the ground by a lot. It was 4x4.
I raised the RV up as far as it could go and was 2" short for the Tremor. I let the air out of the rear tires. My apple watch immediately told me my tires were low. Backed under it . hooked up, re-inflated the tires. Got it all set. I was able to drop the pins in the legs so its very easy to move again. All good

So your 5th wheel connects to your Tremor as shown with no mods to the 5th wheel or truck? ? Do you have air bags?

nope just the initial set up of my Curt 20K hitch. I added a rear sway bar and yellow sumo bags this winter. Have not tried out the new parts with my 5er yet. The Tremor did "squat" more than my 1 ton Chevy. so that is why I added the Sumo bags. It really was not a problem but I wanted it more level when towing heavy things.

I work for an RV dealership here in MN. These are the ones we offer and sell 99% of the time.

Pay attention to the size of the jaws as compared to other manufacturers. Much more size to them. Also these jaws meet in the middle and there is a perfect circle in the middle to allow the pin to rotate smoothly.

Other manufacturers offer a single jaw that wraps all the way around. if that sole jaw breaks your done. With the B&Ws 2 jaws, you're spreading the tension/pull between both jaws vs one.

This is just my 2¢
