Engine Idle Hours Ratio to Engine Hours

I sit idling roughly 2-3 hours a week in the school pickup lines in CA. Maybe Newsom can give me a tax break for not providing school buses? What a douche!!! I grew up in Minnesota, everyone rode the bus to school because the state actually put money into the public school systems.

Everyone in Minnesota also pays about 1% of their property's actual value as a tax every year. A good chunk of California does not.

What’s everyone’s idle hours to engine hours looking like? I have a 21 350 purchased the first part of December with 5900 miles and 220 engine hours with 62 of those being idle hours. So my truck has been idling about 28% of the time. I remote start it for about 10 minutes almost every morning and let it run when I’m hooking up trailers. I did sit in it and let it run quite a bit when I first got it playing with all the buttons etc. Other than that most of those idle hours are from traffic I guess and maybe the school pickup line.

When I was in the airforce our line vehicles were diesel and they would just idle all the time. I mean these things never went above 10mph and were just worked to death. DPF's would get so clogged we would literally have to take them to the local highway and floor the bastards to burn off junk.
