Robustness was one of my concerns with an aluminum truck.

Awhile back I want to say the Tundra trucks had a problem with the tailgate. Guys were loading ATVs into the bed, which tacoed the tailgate. They recalled the tailgates.

You could easily pull off that panel section to see what the interior construction looks like. When you reinstall the panel use hand tools so you don't strip out the mount holes.
