Do I need a weight distributing hitch?

One big factor in that is whether it's a diesel or not. The diesel has a lot more weight in the front. With my diesel and trailer of that weight I used my WDH about 40% of the time. I really didn't have any issues at all and pulled at 80 mph majority of the time. Now I'm pulling with my 7.3 gasser and about a 13k lb toy hauler bumper pull and won't leave home without it. LOL That thing feels like it will put you in the ditch. I have to load very tongue heavy (1600 lbs) then it pulls good. But just pull it, you will know pretty quick.

No, unfortunately it's the 2" receiver. I used it with two reducers though with no problem the few times I towed my TT before selling it.
Gotcha. We also have the 2" for ours left over from our Ram 1500. We're using the Curt 3" -> 2 1/2" -> 2" reducer, but have a lot of slop. I've shimmed it, but still some slop and I can see the trailer moving because of it.

So, we're looking for a 3" receiver to trade for instead.

I doubt it but I really think the answer depends on how well the weight is distributed. I have always used one and I’m a huge believer. That said, I recently bought a weigh safe. I loaded my enclosed trailer to about 10,000 lbs and in a way to optimize the hitch weight. I went out for a test tow and it was solid as a rock. I decided to pull it 350 miles that way and it towed as solid as anything I ever pulled. I am running 37 Toyo AT3s and a full Carlie Commuter kit. No idea how my much my upgrades played into things. All that said, you have far less control over weight balance in a travel trailer.

And on the drop question it depends on the trailer. I have 3 different trailers and I adjust the weigh safe hitch up and down based on where the trailer rides level.

You cruises at 70 or 80 mph while towing a Rv…am I understanding you correctly ? You have any idea of the speed rateing is on your Rv tires… to each their own but you might consider backing it down for your sake as those around you. Just saying…
I don’t run at that speed all the time but A lot of these truckers come up on you at 70 75 and to pass you’re doing 75 don’t know the speed rating there 10 ply
