Dealer won’t apply Private Cash Offer

The only reason they're doing this is because if you back out... They'll make more and be able to sell the truck at MSRP or higher. Dealers today just don't give a shit about their customers anymore. It's their kind of market. If you leave, there's always someone else waiting in line for it and it will sell immediately.

Well, they’ve doubled down and responded again to me today with the below—guess all of you that managed to do it are “just stories”

“there is no system to “lock it in”…those are just stories…how it works is, your PCO is associated with your mailing address or your email address…this info is stored in Fords smart Vincent…we run a smart Vincent for the day it was ordered and the day its delivered…we can then lock in the smart Vincent for whichever date…if you received a PCO after the date it was ordered and its going to expire by delivery, it wont be on either of those 2 previous dates…that is the only way it works”
Your dealer is full of it. I applied my PCO with no issues. Don't have VIN or anything yet and it expires the end of this month.

I waited too long to make up my mind on what I wanted and place my order, had a $2,500 pco expire. My own fault, I know, but my dealer said that if another one came in before my truck arrived, they would apply it. No such luck.

Wanted to add, the no such luck was to getting another pco, not getting the dealer to add.

It’s strange that your dealer is not bending over backwards to help you apply the PCO. It does not cost them anything, so I am not sure why they care. I used my $2500 PCO a month after it expired because my dealer was happy to apply it to my special order deal.

I’m having a bit of the same issue. I ordered at the start of July and received a ‘22 PCO in the mail in Aug that expires 9/30. Dealer told me I rather had to have a valid PCO when I ordered, or one that is valid at delivery.
i would trust Tom Borah at Chapman over just stories here. He is telling you what have long been confirmed about PCOs on Ford forums.

1. You can lock in the PCO at the time of order, along with incentives that are in effect at the time of order. The order date needs to be before the PCO expiration date, but you won’t need to take delivery before it expires. The Ford technical term for locking in the PCO at order time is “Incentive Protection”.

OR,

2. You can wait until the vehicle shows up at the dealership, and use the PCO and whatever incentives are available then. But the PCO cannot have expired before delivery.

Since you can’t know what the incentives or PCO amounts will be at the date the vehicle arrives, or even when it will arrive, it is probably best to lock in the PCO when you order.

I had a similar issue with my 2020 and from what I was told at the time it depended on how the truck was ordered weather or not a PCO now ECO could be locked in. The protection is supposedly activated at the point the truck becomes a retail sold order. If it was originally ordered as dealer stock then could be locked in by converting to a sold order but if was ordered as sold only way to add incentives is to be applicable at time of delivery. Found a old incentive protection plan document that supported the claim but have not been able to find anything recent so could be just blowing smoke to avoid extra work since I believe others have successfully done it.

how do you all get these private cash offers? Are they by email or by usps mail? Just curious how to land one. Thanks.
I tried all the tips and techniques for four months. The method that finally worked for me was to take delivery and sign the paperwork on the truck. Sure enough, 10 days later I had one in the mail!

I got a PCO about 2 months after ordering. Called the dealership and they applied it right away. I went in about a week and a half before the truck came in to verify numbers(was looking at outside finance). The PCO had already been applied to the purchase price.

I always heard before ordering mine that a PCO needs applied at the time of order or when you take delivery of the Truck. I don't believe this is true because my Dealer was able to apply a PCO that was going to expire, while my truck was still being built.

I think its a case of not knowing or just being lazy if they can't apply your PCO.

Snews: Can you take screenshots of the responses and share with Tom Borah. If he genuinely doesn’t know this caveat and will work with you, check with Ford, other dealerships on how to apply, etc., that’s the outcome we are all hoping for.

I don’t have a PCO at the moment but am hoping to get one eventually and also order through Tom at Chapman, so this is just as important for me or anyone who will deal with them in the future.

So I sent this today....

Admittedly I can't claim it is factually true that these others were able to apply their PCO in between order and delivery, but it is stretch for me to think multiple people are lying when I asked if they were able to do so.

My frustration is the apparent unwillingness to reach out to the marketing Communication Center (dealer only resource) to ASK if there’s anything that can be done now in my situation.

Totally agree with you. No point for anyone here to be making up stories. If other dealers were able to find a way to apply PCOs in between order and delivery, Chapman can do it too. Keep pressing them on it. I have high respect for them as of now, but in your case it doesnt seem like their are going that extra mile to help the customer. Not good.

I did not know I had one until after I placed my order. When I told my dealer several weeks after placing the order, he was happy to apply it to my deal. He did not ask for the details or the code number until the truck was on its way to his dealership.

My PCO expired 1/4/21 and I did not receive the truck until Jan 23, 2021. He applied the $2500 PCO and a $250 rebate available at the time of the sale, for a total of $2750 off, which was on top of the $1100 under invoice deal we agreed on.

And the response... I did clarify that the customers I'm talking about had previously ordered, later received a PCO and their dealers applied it before delivery (and before scheduling in @Vermonster 's case).

Those customers on the forum, if they took delivery, their POC offer showed on the smart Vincent at delivery…it’s a non issue…

I also just called the Ford rep for you…he stated either the POC/ICI offer shows in smart Vincent or not…they wont make an exception to add it
