Curt vs Bulletproof vs B&W

B&W 7"

It was very hard for my CAPP self to buy a $300+ hitch. But, it will do everything I need and then some. It fits well, and the stow and go feature is awesome. I just had to take the hitch off for hunting season as it does drag when you need a decent departure angle. I'll keep it off through winter to save from salt/rust, though it has a coating of Amsoil HD rust preventative on it.

This was a buy once, cry once decision. Also, wanted to support a local company (based in KS).

Just installed the HD 3" Bulletproof hitch with 8" drop/rise and this will absolutely be the last hitch i'll ever need. I refused to buy anything that I would need to use a noisy reducer.
Valid point!

Thanks! Based on all the replies it sounds like the B&W is way to go. Hearing folks returning the bulletproof. But doesn’t sound like anyone has had issue with B&W. I certainly want ease to switch between ball sizes.

Out of curiosity what are the reported issues? I went BP instead of B&W but both are high quality IMO.

Can somebody explain why the Bulletproof pin specifically is the hot ticket in hitch pins?

Looks like just a regular ol made in china locking hitch pin to me, but maybe I am missing something.
It was the only one I could find which stated it works with the 3” receiver and comes with the safety cotter pin. I did not want to trust my $40K camper to a simple push on lock.

After receiving it, I discovered the safety cotter pin holes only work for the 2.5” and 2” receivers, so instead of returning it, I drilled a third hole for a 3” receiver width.

B&W tow and stow but mostly because that’s what the e shop had and I needed to tow a motorcycle trailer. I bought a standard pin for that day but have always used bolt locks as I like the single key option I know I will have some padlocks for gear boxes etc and don’t want a tone of keys to story through.

I was just looking for one that would fit a 3” receiver. The nicer ones I found would only fit a 2.5”.

Have a pic of it on the truck? I went with the next size down drop wise. 7” looked like it might drag on steep departures. I think mines a 4.5” drop, which is what I had on my 15’ with 35” tired and airbags. Thanks!

Bulletproof all the way, they also have a sway bar set up.

+1 on B&W Stow-n-Go 3” with 7” drop. Super easy to adjust between trailer heights! Also leave in stowed position when not hauling, was a must to fit truck in my garage.

Another vote for the B&W 3” tow and stow in the 7” drop. It will certainly outlast the truck and based on feedback I received will accommodate everything I need to tow.

For the hitch pin, I initially went bulletproof as I like the idea of having a cotter pin with lock, but when I received it I felt it had too much play. Returned it and ordered one from PacLock. Extremely impressed with their products.

Thats funny because I have the Bulletproof 3" shank with the locking pins and I couldn't use the cotter pin and lock. I emailed BP and they told me that I could only use the cotter pin and lock on a 2.5" receiver/hitch

I never actually put the BP hitch pin on the truck, but I believe an earlier post noted that the 3” receiver requires an additional hole drilled in the pin if you want to use the cotter pin. No issue with with PacLock.

Do you have a pointer to the PacLock?

I’ve been using a Weighsafe 10” drop hitch on my power wagon and plan on using it on my Tremor. I’m currently only towing a flatbed trailer with UTV on it. Planning on buying a new travel trailer and will replace it if needed.

I have the Weighsafe 8" drop.

I called PacLock to verify the model I needed, then at their suggestion ordered thru Amazon. Can’t remember if it was better price of free shipping, but you can still pick your key/lock code when you order thru Amazon so if you order other locks they can all be keyed alike.

PACLOCK's UCS-80S-250 Trailer Hitch Lock, Buy American Act Compliant, 5/8" Pin for 2", 2-1/2", & 3" Receivers, Stainless Steel, High Security 6-Pin Cy https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LR2HZV6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_CelFzjhn6HENK

I use landlord locks for all my rentals and that Paclock core looks exactly like the cores I have to change locks. It's nice because I have a lot of cores, they are easy to change and 1 master key opens them all.
