Carli commuter rubs mudflaps with 35s, how you guys running 37s

Yes, my factory running boards do a great job protecting the side of my truck. (y) (y)

At some point on my 4200 mile camping trip to Yellowstone and back over two weeks, I ran into black tar on the road in one of the "many" construction areas along the route. I did notice it until I got home and what I found was a thick coating of black tar on the underside of the front fender lip and the back quarter panel of the truck all the way back onto the rear bumper and as high as the Tremor sticker. It took quite a bit of soaking it with goo gone and using a micro fiber cloth to remove it all.

The side of the truck between the front tire and rear tire was clean, as the running board blocked the tar from spinning up onto the doors and the front half of the bed. I guess I could have used a rear mud flap, but I really do not like the looks of them, so I did not want them on my truck.
WD40 works really well for removing road tar.

I like the idea of running 17s as well, but having a hard time finding wheels and tires that have similar load capacities to their 18" counterparts...
The Ridge Grappler 37x17s Load Range D have a max load of 3525 lbs at 50 psi, which when doubled, exceeds the GAWR of our Front and Rear axles. (Front 5200 lbs, Rear 6340 lbs) I realize they do not match the 4K lbs of the factory Duratracs, but I am good with them exceeding the axle ratings by a fair amount.

Those Zephyr’s look great with the rear hub exposed.

How do you like towing with 17s? I can’t decide between 18/17. I’m worried about the impact on towing with 17s. But I like the idea of improving ride quality even further…
My issue with 17s (I’m actually hoping someone on here will prove me wrong) is that I can’t find them with a positive offset. I’m not a fan of tire poke but all the 17s I find are -12 to +1. I was wanting +18 to maybe +25. You can get most 18x9 wheels in a +18.

Mine are 17x9s with a +1 offset. (Just barely positive...)
