Last week I got an alignment and one of the workers said that Ca only has 8 weeks of diesel. I dismissed it as whatever but I went to a shell nearby and the diesel pumps were locked with a sign that said no diesel.

I’m thinking dude was right. I was able to get it a the pilot station but had to wait forever for the big rigs.

Fill up if you haven’t and live in CA I guess

Respectfully, one should always be topping off, especially in earthquake country. Plus, there's less air in yer tank creating less condensation. The in-tank fuel pump (at least in contemporary gasoline engine'd veehickulrs) will love you for it.

That said... I have heard similar timelines for regional reserves; it's always an ongoing process. Since California has been so well managed! in recent years what with refineries closing down, etc... most of Cal's gasoline and nearly all of it's diesel is now shipped into port.

These "8-week" or "12-week" or whatever-week timeframe projections may only stand if there's a complete halt in all incoming fuel shipments. I doubt that's the case.

Cheer up, my good man, and remember! Always be topping off.

Briefly looking into the subject, it could have been isolated stations without diesel. Or, they can’t sell it because the pumps only go to &9.99 and they’d be selling at a “loss” (because of the $3 tax).
Gas Buddy has not seen wide spread or significant disruptions of fuel in any region.

Haven't seen any fuel stations out of diesel here in Washington yet but it is roughly $2.30 gallon more than gas.

Hopefully this is just a cost increase and not a sign of stations running out.
