Borla S Type or Ford Performance Exhaust???

S-type zero drone. Its actually pretty tame when driving normally.
Yea while I feel I will ultimately end up with S type the pretty tame is where I get stuck at times. I’ve seen many say it sounds great when accelerating but just slightly louder than stock otherwise. So my worry will I want a little more. But from YouTube the ATAK is not what I was hoping for.

The S Type is perfect. It does have a cold start bark, but quickly idles down to nice and mellow.

I just made my third or forth trip up to Utah, towing light, and now that the system is getting some heat through it it's starting to get a little louder but nothing obnoxious.

I like comfortable highway cruising, and part of that is just the right level of music from the exhaust system with no drone. The S-Type delivers.

If for my tastes the system gets louder as the miles accumilate, then when I pull my 10,000 lb toy hauler (meaning larger throttle openings therefore more exhaust noise volume) I have ready an 18" Borla XR-1 race muffler to serve as a second resonator. It is 3.5" in/out and will fit nicely in the 21" or 22" mid-pipe section of the Super Duty 160" wheelbase S-Type system. I even ordered another mid-pipe, separately, to use both ends of it after cutting and having welded to the XR-1. It would be a simple slip-fit install into the S-Type system after that little bit o' fab to the XR-1.

Theoretially. :ROFLMAO: and only if I want to mellow out a broken-in S-Type system.

Much appreciated. See I have often gone the other way and been if not loud enough swap rear muffler for xr1 and some extra pipe lol.

I believe from your prior posts I’ve always wanted a full borla kit and this truck might be the one that I scratch that itch for. At end of day I don’t want annoying where family doesn’t want to take on trips. So that will likely win out over wanting more raw sound

I believe the only difference between the S and ATAK Borla is the removal of the front Borla resonator.

You might be able to source thay separately and change if one is too much / too little.

Yea I’ve noticed that too. My initial hope was too have a custom exhaust fab’d up. I had to paths:
1: remove everything stock and do OEM collectors into x pipe then into pro xs muffler dual in dual out into 5 or 6” black tips out each side in OEM like placement behind wheels

2: remove everything stock and do OEM collectors into 3” dual in single 3” out y pipe into borla xr1 3” in and out then further back doing a borla xr1 mini 3” in and out into OEM like tailpipe and location into 5 of 6” black tip in OEM location.

However all the shops by me either charge near the price of the borla kit or use a lot of crushed pipe to make it work which I don’t want.

So I feel like if I got Borla s type and after a while it’s to tame swapping the rear muffler in that kit to a xr1 gives me the similar set up to option 2….

But I got some other projects on my truck occurring and I’ll tackle this once wrapped up with those.
