I would go to the dealer you purchased it from and tell them you want it painted don’t think they will fight you on it

I dont think this is something new, very common for many years on many models. I would be surprised if Ford would paint it.

I'm curious if this is a plant spec. I have worked for the same company in different states and they do things different, sometimes totally different but they are all putting out the same product.

I have a velocity blue Tremor with black under the hood and it was built at the Kentucky plant. ?‍

I dont think this is something new, very common for many years on many models. I would be surprised if Ford would paint it.

I looked at mine and appears to be tinted primer color as well as the firewall. Definitely more white tinge than the silver exterior. Thinking back most of my recent rigs were similar under hood but not the firewalls.

My 10/2020 built Tremor is Ingot Silver. My under hood and firewall and sides of engine is white and not painted. My neighbor owns a body shop and we spent 3 hours aligning hood and drivers door. What in the world happened to Ford Quality Control?

Used to be that under hood an other surfaces "hidden" were painted with color only and no clearcoat.

Mine is blue jeans and is black under the hood for whatever reason. Mine also came with the optional dirt in the paint all over. Poor quality control with painting. The body shop manager at my dealer ship, said that paint and body alignment issues across Ford's models have been the worse he has seen in years and the covid shut down does not seem to have helped. New Explorers are the worst, he says. Super Duty and F150 are normally good and if he sees a problems it is usually a body panel alignment or primer showing through the paint. Any advice I can give, is make sure you really check your truck out when you pick it up. On a good note they managed to buff most of the dirt out of my paint. I still need to have the rear bumper and one fender flare painted because of paint issues. My dealer has been great to deal with.

Having a great dealer is sooooo important!

My truck was built on 5 November 2019...in Kentucky....it is BLUE..........


I am not sure who is in charge of SD Production.....But I WANT their job.........right now......for no compensation..!!!!!!!

Built 10/6/2020, so just a few weeks ago.

Mines 8-20-19 and has paint under the hood wonder what month they cut off painting under the hood

Mine was made about a month ago. The underside of the hood is definitely flat black primer only with the top side being agate black.

My truck is black under the hood, built on 10/8/20. My thought is the darker colors receive a black primer coat while the lighter colors a white primer, just a guess. I looked at many trucks over the last few months and most had panel quality and panel alignment gap issues. Most of the trucks I looked at the beds were not center to the cabs too.

Possibly. I used to work for a company that did RHD conversions of F series trucks, mainly F150’s. We made new firewalls for them for RHD and they told me that the firewalls were different depending on which factory the trucks were made in.
