5th Wheel Hitch

We have a Grand Designs 350G. The only difference between it and the 320G is the longer garage. We've really enjoyed it and the amenities is affords. We've had a few minor issues, all fixed under warranty. I have spoken with other Grand Designs owners who have had many more issues with their trailers. We're really glad we swapped the fifth wheel for a gooseneck for better bed utilization without needing to remove the fifth wheel hitch when we get to camp.

Our previous Jayco 30 foot bumper pull was pretty good. They did a few things poorly, like they never bolted in the oven/stove and it fell out of the counter on one trip. The counter didn't even have screw holes where it should have been bolted in. When we were looking for a Toy Hauler we checked out the Jayco model. It was nice but it was oddly tongue heavy compared with other brands.

As far as the 350G we also couldn't find anywhere where we could see it in person prior to our order. MSRP was $120k. The dealer had little haggle at $90k price. All in all, we would do a Grand Designs again in the future. We chose to get the upgraded axle for 18k lb capacity vs. 16k lb capacity. That also upgrades the brakes to disc vs drum. Plus solar from the factory. We need to upgrade the batteries to Lithium-Ion at some point for better battery longevity when off-grid.

I went with a 20000lb Goosebox with a Gen-Y five-inch ball extender. Im very happy with it so far. No chucking and pulls very smoothly. I can't get 90 deg. But I'm close. My trailer is a 36' Shockwave toyhauler.

I'm looking at the BW companion 20K for my truck with the OEM prep package RVK3300. Anyone know of any deals/discounts floating around? Fleabay has one at $1,256. Thanks.

I am running the same set up on my ATC 36' toybox - can't go 90 but helps a lot for turning radius. Ride with the goosebox is great compared to 5er.

Has anyone had tried this Anderson 8" offset adapter?
I was curious if you really need the extra 8 with a short bed.

If going the gooseneck,

If going with either I'd get this to get an extra 5" as well. Because I have the turnover system vs oem I am using the B&W 4.5" extension. While not being able to do a complete 90, I still get pretty close and have no issues as long as I pay attention. I really don't like have to put that stress on the trailer anyway.

Any experience with the Anderson Ranch Hitch 8" offset?

What are you running on your Tremor or other Super Duty Truck, and how do you like it? As of now, I'm leaning towards the B&W Companion in 25k setup for our Ford Puck System.
My Tremor is new so I haven’t had a chance to tow yet but with my old truck I used the Andersen hitch attached to bed rails. I had a traditional 5th wheel hitch prior to the Andersen and it sucked. It was heavy, it had a manual slider which required me to get out of the truck to activate. The hitch would often lock up and I would have to reposition the trailer just to get the hitch to release the kingpin. Then I bought the Andersen and all of those problems went away.

Bottom line is the traditional 5th wheel hitch sucks. I prefer a hitch that drops the kingpin into a locking mechanism, rather than crashing the kingpin into a locking claw on a traditional 5th wheel. The Gen Y, Reese Gooseneck, Blue Ox, and Andersen are all great options that also allow use of your truck bed. The only way to go in my opinion.
