Is the 45 ACP a Good Gun for Bears?

AI Response : No, it is a terrible choice for bears. They can't get their paws around the small grips and have trouble manipulating such a small trigger. Furthermore, they can't hold the small bullets while attempting a magazine reload.

Tim Sundles, the founder and proprietor of Buffalo Bore thinks the .45 Auto loaded w/ a +P hardcast bullet is sufficient for bear, but up to certain sizes and weights of bear. That's a 230 grain at 950 fps.

I like a heavy .44 Special - that's a 250/255 grain Keith LSWC @ 950 or my load (an enhancement of Skeeter's Load of 7.5 grains propellant) of 7.7 grains Unique to a measured 1000 fps from a 4-5/8" single action Ruger flat top chambered for .44 Special. I like it because it's a powerful round but while it creates noticeable recoil it isn't painful recoil.

Magnums are for distance. We don't always need 1250-1400 fps up close and personal.

"What gun for bear" - a topic that NEVER gets old. :ROFLMAO: 🧌
