How much "crap" got between the cover and grill? I plan to install it after a good wash, just curious how much junk might accumulate during driving.

Honestly, not much at all. I did give it a good wash before installing. The cover wraps between the hood and grille which helps keep hood run off out. Some road spray does make it in around the oval cut out, but not bad. If you are going to leave it in there long term, I’d pull it and clean the grille every so often. Dont forget to lay it out in the house for a day or two before installing. They are very difficult to work with cold.

As I am new to daily driving a diesel, what temperature would you plan to plug in for? We only get a week or two of winter here. My gassers would start at -40 F/C no problem. I have winter fuel treatment I plan to use when the forecast suggests it's needed.

I don’t often do it, but only use it when it’s less than 10 or 15. That’s really only because I can. No problem starting without it down to 5f. That’s as low as I’ve been.

That makes sense. I really don't have a convenient outdoor plug so plugging it in will be a bit of commitment. Growing up we always plugged our vehicles, but they were stored inside so easy to keep cords to (and we had about six months of winter a year with sustained weeks of -40f occasionally.)

That’s too damn cold!
Before I could park inside, I ran a 50’ cord from the inside of the garage under the door. The rubber strip still sealed. Every so often the GFCI would trip when it got wet laying in the driveway, but I just left it out anyway.

Yeah that's what I will have to do too. It always amazes me, I was visiting my parents for Christmas a few years ago and it didn't get over -43 deg F. Not pleasant.
