2023 build “Dear John” letters

My order is Plat with pretty much everything except pro-power as it wasn't available as an option at the time I ordered in Oct according to my salesman. I think I'm going to add it.
Good news is that Pro power is standard equipment for King Ranch and above trims.

Looking at a couple other forums, it seems like these letters are having a largely negative reaction from people waiting for scheduling. What's even more confusing are people who get these letters who have a build that is in progress or complete.

Seeing more people jumping ship to GMC/Chevy and giving up on waiting, getting "comparable" trucks for large discounts from MSRP. It is a miss for Ford. Their supply chain people should know what they can get from their suppliers and should only accept orders for what they can build, particularly for the higher end trims. It seems that GM is focusing on building their higher trims, seeing an opportunity to gain business from frustrated Ford customers.

I find it interesting how Toyota doesn’t allow any custom orders at all and have a weird allocation system. Seems to work well enough for them though. Sucks if you want something specific with less common options.

Want an orange TRD pro Tacoma with 6 speed manual and certain interior/exterior options? Good luck.

I was told you don't get the scales on the tremor pkg. Take FWIW
The 3/17/23 edition of the order guide shows the scales standard on King Ranch and up and optional on Lariat. I cannot find any exception for Tremor. Not available on XL or XLT so a XLT Tremor would not have them but any other would. Also Savannah at Granger told me that I would get them on my Platinum Tremor.

That's correct. The bed scales are standard equipment on King Ranch and above trims and an option on Lariat.

I went with Granger as well! You hear anything from Savannah/Ashleigh on your order?? I have a Platinum Tremor order as well and Ashleigh said the Tremor package will override other options. So she wasn't sure if the scales would be deleted but did agree they're standard on KR and above.

Honestly unless someone has one and confirm; those of us waiting have no idea what Ford is going to build us, as they change everything. My build sheet shows the scales but my salesman said he believes the Tremor won't have them. This was several months ago and I forgot as to why. Doesnt mean it's true take FWIW

Good point... the order guide for the 2023s has already proven to be inaccurate - what trims options get what version of tail lights, what color Tremor sticker is put on the trucks - so who knows what other audibles the factory calls based on the inventory they received from suppliers.

Since all the other normal constraining options are showing up on a lot of Lariat ultimates, it does make me wonder if the scales are the pinch point for the KR+ trims. Seems like virtually everyone with the higher trims who were scheduled got pushed out to July. Gotta be a better explanation than Ford focusing on fleet orders and completely new tech would make sense.

I was in contact with Savannah a couple of months back to make a couple of minor adjustments to my order. Savannah is just wonderful. She is very helpful and engaged. I am not sure Ashleigh still works there. I do not see her on their web site. Her name seems to be still attached to some automated email processes though.

I ordered my truck the first week of November, but I have all of the super evil options that anyone has mentioned plus more. I do not expect the truck anytime soon and would not be entirely surprised if they never build it.

It'd be fun to come up with a build that never gets built. Get uber forum cred for sure since you could complain for years!

I don’t consider it complaining when you order a truck and 7 months later you still don’t have a build date…Ford Motor Company is proving they have some serious management problems.
Especially when they are picking up orders made in late 23 with sone if not all of these constrained items. Appears to be FILO

I am waiting too and not happy about it. Didn’t mean any harm and agree Ford is dropping the ball a lot lately.

Yep... I ordered a platinum tremor in 11/2021... got rolled to a 2023... And now just got an email that I'm schedule for the week of August 28, 2023... So sounds like Ford may never build it. What a Joke.

Same but it's not a Tremor.

It sucks that you got a build date so late in the model year, seems like you'd be taking delivery now in late September/ October. It's stupid that people like you didn't get scheduled right away when they started J2 orders and we're seeing people ordering XL/XLT trims recently and getting them in 6 weeks.

I don't recall reading anywhere of Ford not building a vehicle they've issued a vin for. Has that happened in the last year or two? If not, at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel (even if the tunnel seems to be getting longer) and you'll eventually have a truck.
