305-70R18 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T

Did anyone have any issues with death wobble after putting these on. At first the pressure was at 70psi which was bad but not uncontrollable since it would come and go without slowing down. At 60psi it was much better but I could still feel it slightly ever so often. The truck only has 7,000 miles and that was the only thing done so no lift or level. Thanks.

Did the Baja Boss 305’s
Thanks this is super helpful, do know the tire pressures you were running on each tire you measured? Interesting to see heights on the truck since the Duratrac specs claim the unloaded diameter of 35.1” and the 305 BB AT at 35.3”.

To clarify, your experience was with the BFG KO that originally came out in the 80’s (assuming your mid-2000’s timeline is accurate). The KO2, the successor, came out in 2014 as documented by the original press release:

The KO2 is a significantly different tire given the additional decades of R&D.
That is correct sir! And why I said my experience is not relevant.... without getting into the weeds of an explanation. I also had BFG AT's in 1980.... can I use that? 🤣🤣🤣

I have experienced none of that. By the way, max psi on 305's is 65 psi. I run mine about 55 psi.

OK thanks. I bumped them down to about 55 and 50 to see how they run. I might bump them up five psi when I hook up my camper.

Are you sure what you're experiencing is DW? I've installed two sets of MT ATs on two different trucks and on my 06 Ram 2500 they were horrible for about 3K miles. I could hardly keep it on the road, I'm assuming because of tread squirm and the solid front axle. Behavior was different on different pavement, some surfaces it was OK but others the truck was like driving on ice. I took the truck to a front end and alignment specialist and they found nothing wrong. I also put the same tires on my 02 Ford F250 and have had no problems. On my Dodge I found less air pressure was better than more.

Yes the wheel shook back and forth. It could come and go. It wasn’t the lane departure either since it was stronger. 55/50 seem to be better. I’ll see how it is with my camper since I’m taking that out next weekend. It has a 1,300lb tongue weight on it so I’m assuming I need to bump up the rear about 5-10psi.

It warmed up today from this morning. On my way home the tires got up to 65/57. I did the chalk test. The fronts look good. The rears at 57 are too much unloaded but with my camper hooked up I’d expect that to be more even.

You all have about sold me. Only hesitation now is fuel mileage. I think these will drop me into the 11MPG range, unfortunately. Oh well.

If it helps, I am getting 12-12.5 on average. But I live at altitude in the mountains so there's that

thanks to this thread I pulled the trigger on a set of these for $1400 and change which I thought was a good deal.

I already get 11 mpg so at that point I’m not even going to give it another thought. I turned off the avg mpg on the info screen to make me feel better about it. Pretty excited to get them mounted up.

After a 6 month ordeal with the transmission rebuild glad I can get excited about my tremor again!

the duratracs are going on my tundra. FWIW the duratracs got me through a big MT winter and were ok. First winter in years without dedicated snow tires.

Look forward to seeing them mounted and how you like them

I’ll make sure to update as soon I have some miles on them. I’m thinking 55/55 psi to start as I usually have tools/materials in the bed and a trailer of some sort.

It depends on what engine you have. I posted the pictures and the warmed up pressures above. I have the PS so if you have the gasser it would be too much up front.

I just looked at that post again. Very helpful thanks. I have the gasser so will try 50/50. they are going on next Monday.

Love this forum. Thanks to all!

This is my weight too. The engine is going to be the big difference with who runs what pressures here. The chalk test is also very helpful confirming how the tires are wearing. I did the chalk test when they were warmed up just to know how they were once they warmed up even though they say to do them cold.
