I ordered my truck in November and received it two months ago. They delivered it to my house, so I never set foot in the dealership or met my salesman in person. This means all of the usual items handled during an in-person delivery was reduced down to me pre-signing the paperwork, giving a check for the price of the truck and the delivery guy handing me the keys. Nothing was mentioned about activating Ford Pass in a certain amount of time.
Everything else on the deal went perfectly smooth, until I tried to get my points in Ford Pass. I have Ford Pass for my Raptor and Shelby, but I never bothered to add the Tremor to my account. I knew I had 75,000 points pending, but since I did not need them, I did not feel any urgency. Fast-forward to yesterday when I had some free time for messing with the truck. After adding it to Ford Pass, I noticed my points were not showing up. I called Ford Pass and they promptly told me you have to "activate your modem within 60 days" or you lose your points. I asked to talk to a supervisor and they promised to get back with me today.
Today, I received a call from my dealership and they explained that there was nothing Ford would do for them since I did not activate my modem within 60 days. I told them how ridiculous that sounded, as I just spent $75,000 on a new truck. The agreed and said they would "buy" the points for me and add them to my account in a couple of weeks. I thanked them and apologized for the confusion on my part. As I was talking to him on the phone, someone in the background said they should be loaded. I checked and all of my points are now available!
This is the kind of customer service Ford should have done on their own. Instead, it cost one of their dealers money to do the right thing for me...
Lesson learned, if you want the points for a couple of free oil changes, add your truck to Ford Pass as soon as possible.
