What is best hitch for 2.5” receiver?

Does your boat weight of 5500# include 92 falllns of fuel?

I got a Bulletproof hitch with the anti rattle on my Ram 3500. Mine is the 22,000lb conventional rated. They have an extreme duty 36,000lb conventional as well.

I wish I had just purchased this. I went with a 7" drop B&W rated for 14,500 lbs and its fine for my utility trailer and small stuff, but my boat/trailer weighs 15,000 lbs so I wound up purchasing a couple separate ball mounts with various rise levels to get the boat trailer to ride level. If I had just purchased the Bulletproof hitch the first time I wouldn't have to worry about anything and would have spent less overall. Lesson learned.

I was between B&W and Bulletproof. Went for the Bulletproof Medium Duty with 6 inch drop which is good up to 14,000lbs, well above the trailer / race car I tow. This has both 2" and 2 5/16 balls. Towed just once with it so far but was solid and without any issue.

I've had B&W Tow and Stow hitches for quite some time now, in fact i just grabbed a new 2.5" shank 7" drop for the Tremor. Gen Y, Weigh Safe, Rhino, and Bullet Proof all make great options as well. I am sure there others out there that I didn't mention that should be considered too.

Not sure "Best" is the correct word. It completely depends on what I am towing, and how far. As long as the weight is under the hitch class, and your trailer pulls flat that is the important part.

I went with B&W 2.5”/7”… probably more than I will ever need.

At the moment, in stock form, I feel like the 7" might be a tad long for this truck, maybe hangs a touch too low, but I am hoping that after I install the Carli 2.5 and 37's it'll be just about perfect for it. Thoughts since you're using the same one?

I don’t think it’s too long at all. I probably have at least 12” from the end of the hitch to the ground. I would say if you plan on 2.5” of lift and 2” taller tires I think you may even go with the 9” B&W. If you can hold off buying it until you do your mods I would wait. I can take a pic tomorrow with a tape measure and post it if that helps.

I already have the 7" drop for it, I just haven't slapped it in the receiver to see how it looks yet. I threw it in my boat stall so I doubt I get over there soon to try it out. If you get a second to pull tape on yours that would be much appreciated.

Sorry for the late answer. Nope 5500lbs plus gas, plus life jackets rope, anchor, and other stuff we leave in the boat.

Any thoughts on the Bullet Proof Hitches 🤔
Just picked up the 6 inch drop medium duty. Built like a tank, don't throw your back out lift it lol. I spent way to much time measuring hitches before I decided on their 6 inch drop. I tow a wide variety of trailers...
