What did you do to your other rides today? [2026 Edition]

That is a seriously cool piece of history, but you have to weigh the 'mom tax' against the fun of the project. Looking at the photo, it has incredible potential for a family build, but 30+ years of sitting means you'll be replacing every piece of rubber, wiring, and the entire brake and fuel system. If you decide to go for it, my biggest advice is to have her sign the title over to you completely before you load it onto the trailer. If she won't do that, the strings are still attached. Otherwise, it could be an amazing memory with the guys!
100% agree. Work the logistics/timing, reserve a car trailer there and drive over. If it falls through, I'm out gas, but have a road trip with Jordan (my son-in-law).

Don't forget to bring some cash. Sometimes it stings to have to buy family out when it should just be given but I always considered it buying peace and not buying what I was getting by getting them away from it. The hardest part was doing it quietly without others in the family hearing about it.

Oh, please keep the patina, please.

I've had these wheels new in boxes since ordering them about 2 years ago. They were a special run of 13x7" for my Corvair. They are imported as blank (non drilled), and drilled in the states. Seems as the guy that called himself the machinist, blew it on the center hole diameter, and they couldn't be bolted on. I was pissed, and never said a word to him. I figured they arrived undamaged once, why roll the dice? I found a place in Arizona, that was not far from me. I took them in on Friday, at 11:50. Steve texted me at 2:40 saying they were done. I took a front hub off my car, and left that with them for size. After 39 years, I'm finally going to build the original race engine for it. 😁 I'll be spending a small fortune on it. A crank, from Marine Crankshaft. Connecting rods from Pauter, and pistons from Wiseco.
