WDH with sway control recommendation for lifted truck?

They need to ditch their Amsoilesque logo and go for something more appropriate:

🤣 The logo could definitely use some work. Im just glad they convinced the "boss" into making their products in a black, and not just their signature red.

USA Made. 20 something years in business. I cant believe I had never heard of them until last year.

going to white knuckle it 4 hours out to the lease
The intensity of the white on your knuckles is proportional to the speed you are traveling...

Seriously, sometimes it doesn't matter much in perfect conditions, but other times 5mph can be significant!

Planning on keeping it around 60mph in the right lane and taking our time

Didn't mean to reply to your post. What I was surprised by was how much it was off. Its also my first travel trailer so i was new to the lies. I meant to reply to the post about a trailer being low on tounge weight.
Haha. Yeah, same story on the vehicle end. They'll tell ya a 6.5k limit will handle a 6k lb trailer without mentioning that everything in the vehicle including occupants needs to be factored in.

My vote is the 14k equalizer. My campers a bit heavier but same length and rating pretty much for the tongue weight. With a battery and full propane, a better mattress in the front, and loaded up, it’s about 1200 tongue. Without it, there is sway and it’s not fun. Slow and white knuckles. With it, I go all over. No problem going 75 mph down the interstate passing semis and all that fun stuff.

Interested to hear how it pulls for you.

Slow and steady wins the race! Before I knew better I thought it would be really cool to buy a 1972 lifted 4x4 half ton Suburban to tow my 25' wakeboard boat with. I did a white knuckle 3 hour drive to drop it off for gelcoat work. I was running 70MPH and walking all over every time a semi got close. Dropped to 60MPH on the tow home and it was an almost relaxing drive. It will be good to hear your report on how the drive goes bringing it home and what you modify for improvement. My biggest takeaway was a 1 ton truck vs a 1/2 ton truck is night and day. Any other mods are just gravy on top.

Personally, I dont see a lot of tongue weight there so I would reconsider the weight distribution. I totally get the sway mitigation though...

We have been running a airbag hitch from ShockerHitch and I will never tow with another hitch again. After 3000+ miles of crappy roads towing a race truck in Baja MX, and countless here in the states, its changed towing for us. So much so that we became a dealer. Its that good.

They have a sway control add on as well. Unlike a Gen-Y hitch, you can regulate how much cushion you need. Its not a one size fits all solution like other torsion style hitches.

Shop ShockerHitch 20k HD at WAYPOINT. Shoot us a message for a forum discount.
