Trailer Tires?

The camper I bought 8/2025 came with goodyear endurance, all four failed in 2600 miles. I think it's called belt separation. Big bumps both the tread and sidewalls. Fairly certain road hazards were not involved.

I run Goodyear Endurance on my trailers, and I put about 50,000 miles per year on my primary work trailer. Goodyear did have a bad batch of Endurance tires that failed quickly, but that seems to have corrected.

This doctor is not wrong.

The best move is to get truck tires—why? More warranty.

Trailer tires are usually bias ply with a maximum 3-year warranty, and unless the trailer is attached to your rig (which some might be), you’ll never actually wear them out.

Spend the extra money on heavy-duty truck tires with a 5+ year warranty; even if you only rack up 3,000 miles in five years, they’ll still be covered, and you can take advantage of your certs.
If I ever do get to build my off road camper trailer, I will be putting truck tires on it for sure

I would do the same.

If I am stating the obvious please forgive me but I have been told to put a road tire on a trailer speed rated for high speed

One of the guys on here I am pretty sure put our duratracs or a similar A/T truck tire on their travel trailer. Can't remember who it was though 🤔🤷

@Bill if memory serves...

Yup, that was me. We put them on in December and they are doing great.

Here is a link to the thread with pictures and a video.

The red area is where cracks will show before this happens. It’s a problem when the 2nd tire tread separates on the Florida turnpike on a Saturday afternoon in July headed to Marathon FL. The first tire let go about 50 miles south of Atlanta.

Looks like you could have got at least another 40 feet out of them.

I pulled the tread off and rode 20 miles in the emergency lane at 15-20 mph to Yeehaw junction. I called a tire shop in Melbourne that sold trailer wheels and tires. Bought 2 over the phone and had an Uber driver bring the tires to me. It sucked but I got to Marathon right at dark.

Hercules Tires on my Horse trailer (G Rated) and utility trailer. Once I replaced the Goodyears I have never looked back.

Had a trailer tire peel off and blow up the fender flare…. Bent steel brackets.

Put Goodyears on after this incident, still working to repair the fender and trailer brackets.

Trailer tires were crazy expensive

So appropriate 🤣 I bet you fit right in.

I own a trailer rental company and I have crackheads calling me all the time seeing if I want to buy trailer tires off of them 🤦🏻‍♂️, seriously get about one call a week from them 🤣.
